You Suck And So Does Your Idea, Loser....

I've done the writer/3rd level producer and it's really exciting to launch a project. Sure there will always be those that scream "This Sucks" like you're going to start all over again to their satisfaction. Really it doesn't hurt the people who has been there 10-20 times before but what about the new actor that begins to feel they'll never amount to anything and just quit.

I know, I've been reading all 5.8 million posts and I'm nearing the end now.
Liar. ;)

If you HAD read so many posts, you'd have seen the many Moderator admonitions against re-animating long dead threads.

I was wondering the exact same thing

Well... he's probably got some type of videos up on YouTube. I'd also place bets that he's still suffering from his criticism problem.

I sorted back on his now deleted profile, at first he sounded like someone I use to kick ideas around with a long while back but I somehow doubt it.

I have never heard of anyone who has made a fan film making the transition to being a working professional in the industry. Even the guys over at the Star Trek fan films, who these days work with some of the original ST actors on their fan films, have said making fan films will not help you get a real job in the indusrty.

But as for your question, I always remember that this is simply a message board, and people that say hurtful things often overlook one fact: Their comments say more about them than they do about you.

You could try listening more. I am a living example of fan film work on STAR TREK NEW VOYAGES getting me professional VFX work, and producing/directing work as well. My career was flagging in the early 2000's, but after I joined NV in 2007, the quality of my work increased due to simply getting the hard practice of creating upwards of 30-50 shots per show. I am now their VFX Supervisor, along with Tobias Richter. In fact, even Tobias has sent me paying work solely based on my TREK work, and knowing me from that work.

Same with my book trailers for Homer Hickam, author of Rocket Boys and numerous other novels. Got those gigs thanks to my work and good reputation with NV.
