You know you're a Trekkie(er) when...

When your computer system is controlled by three primary main processing cores cross linked with a redundant melacortz ramistat and fourteen kiloquad interface modules. The core elements are based on FTL nanoprocessor units arranged into twenty-five bilateral kelilactirals with twenty of those units being slaved to the central heisenfram terminal.

It makes perfect sense really.

Sorry, I got most of that, Shalashaska, but can you clarify; "Computer system" ???
(Plus, I named my firstborn son "Heisenfram" :bolian: )

You know you are a Star Trek fan, when you reflect on when you were 9, and a Hellion, and your parents finally figured out a way to discipline you effectively. Make you stay in your room during Star Trek, and be able to hear the volume but not watch.

Oh, Baby, did THAT strategy ever work for them!!!

My Son's name is Samuel, partially as it's my fathers middle name, partially from George Samuel Kirk. If he'd been a girl he was going to be Kira, partially because it's a beautiful Celtic name, and partially because...

I do that with my son a lot. "It's a Celtic name!" - my wife always follows with "I got it from Dragon Age" - Kira was one discussed for my first born - but we settled on Ezri - and gave Dax as my sons middle name for continuity reasons ;)

Sam also has a lot of good fantasy associations. LOTR, GOT. Makes you think of a loyal best buddy with confidence issues.

I'm not sure what Trek names I'd consider. So many of the good ones have prominent K sounds that sound jarring when combined with my last name. Jim or Leonard maybe. I personally wouldn't pick one that is solely identified with Trek as it may embarrass the kid if s/he didn't like scifi.

You know you're a trek fan when you figure out the Borg designations for members if your family based on their birth order.

for me, I'm the sixth of my maternal grandparents' twelve grandchildren, hence my user name. I liked it better than Three of Three, which I would have been as the third and last child of my parents.

TRUE STORY: When your wife is rushed in to have emergency back surgery because of a collapsed disc, with a possible prognosis of complete paralysis, and she's in full panic mode, and the thing that brings her back to stability is the fact that the surgeon shares a last name with her favorite Klingon (Kang), and the first doctor she meets upon admission is named McCoy.

(This was 10/2000. The surgery was a flawless success, she recovered completely.)

On the other hand, if the doctor's name was Toby Russell....:eek::eek:

Here's one I used to do. You find out the latest I'm a doctor not a whatever statement made by Dr. McCoy in a book or something whether the other is an escalator or a head shrinker or stunt pilot and on your next doctor appointment, you ask your regular doctor if he or she is that.
God bless, Jason Irelan

When you're a purist who is a Trekker which was invented by the fans first and not Trekkie. And it doesn't matter what Gene preferred, because he only came up with the concepts. Fandom identification belongs solely with the creators of Trekker which was chronologically first.

As Spock would say, " most logical! "

Btw, the old farts who refer to Star Trek as Star Trak are more often than not ignorant self-proclaimed Trekkie's!!!

Every single various alert or notification sound on my smartphone or tablet is a Star Trek sound of some sort.

If you're into that sort of thing and are using Android (don't know if it's available on iOS) I heartily recommend the app 'Trek Notifications' it has pretty much every sound effect from TOS to TNG.

I'm constructing a Breen helmet with vocoder!!! A cheap DIY version with motorcycle helmet, green glow stick, and voice changer. Haven't decided on type of material to hold it together.

Any suggestions?

My Father to this day claims I wasn't named after Jake Sisko but being born 12 days after the end of DS9 I'm still doubtful!

... when you respond to your son's question about when he'll get a new toy or game, you respond "in a year, or maybe yesterday."

Am mounting the snout today with a black painter's mask and goggles. I have black latex as a first layer to cover all parts, but need either metal or other hard material to paint gloss black. I had to use a glow stick instead of glass neon light because only the glow stick is flexible and doesn't require power. I can just shake it up or move my head from side to side.

I have never recalled seeing a Breen at any convention or in any Cosplay groups.
Yes, I've seen a few on Google images, but they looked garish. I'm going for all-black to represent homemade Spetskar Commando.

I'm having someone else fabricate the Breen Confederacy symbol.

The disruptor rifle I can actually make from used gun parts and custom furniture. The armadillo armor can be made with overlapping matting. Would be nice if this were a Kevlar and polymer blend.

A fake poloron grenade can be made with cheap supplies from any Dollar store.

I guarantee you, anyone would freak over an armed Breen ;-)
