WoW - Musings & Discussion

Yeah, I tried some BG leveling for the first time: a lot of fun and good break from the grinding. I think I am going to do it more on future alts.
Got a mage to 20 in 2 days doing em. AWESOME THING about it is that you get to automatically enter them, and some of them are ones that are really hard for one faction to get into, like Stockades are for Horde.

^ you dont even have to try that hard to level these days...
gear up your guy in BOA stuff and just from northshire and elwynn quests alone you're at 15 by the time you finish those starters..

same for horde side, you're at least 17 by the time you enter ghostlands

I took a 7-month break from WoW while I was doing some traveling, and started up again just last week. When I left, my hunter was decently geared from Heroics and a few raids, mostly 200 and 213 stuff. It used to suck big time sitting around for an hour with the "LF tank for H Nexus" thing. Now that I've reactivated my account, I click that glorious dungeon finder and go crazy. It's awesome playing with a few real life friends then getting some good players from the finder, and sticking with the same group re-queuing after each glorious victory. The dungeons from the more recent patches are really fun like I always thought Culling of Stratholme was, but of course when the random finder drops me in god. damn. Occulus. I cringe every time. Then again, that one is really easy now, and so are all of them. My rambling point is: I'm glad I came back, the game is still a lot of fun, and I really enjoy being a hunter with my sweet new crossbow and my not-yet-nerfed wolf.

Now what I want most of all is Cataclysm to come out so I can try out the Horde with a Tauren paladin. Then again, I could just drop the $15 and switch my old Draenei paladin over to the Other Side. I only stopped playing him because he's 61 and I hate pretty much all of the Outlands, though now I've read I can just get him a flying mount and go nuts over there. I've heard all the complaints from the Old Schoolers about back in THEIR day you got a slow mount at 40 and LIKED it (;))...but I sure wouldn't have. Leveling sucks, leveling always sucks, and anything to make it go quicker is fine by me. I kind of want to make a bunch of alts just to run around Wetlands on a mount at 20, weeping at my memories of running back and forth and back and forth and back and forth across massive distances on foot way back when.

^ speaking of tauren pallys... is it just me or does anyone else think that the tauren are an incredible mis-match to be aligned with the horde?

Oh God, I remember walking around Wetlands. Over having to walk everywhere to explore and get flight points.

Not really, the Horde are not "evil", not any more than the Alliance these days. I think the Space Goats don't fit very well with the Alliance myself, but there's the whole "Fel Orcs tried to exterminate us" angle so I can see why they aren't Horde.

I think the Tauren are just... different. I think in the past the Humans have been xenophobic and a bit racist and I don't think naturalist talking cows sit with them very well. :)

Every race in WoW has their shade of grey, the Taurens themselves have the Grimtotem tribe...That's one of the things I really like, the Alliance aren't the good guys and the Horde aren't the bad guys, the truth is somewhere in between.

Blood elves are the only truly EVIL race in the game.

I got my flying mount today, having hit 60, and I gotta say, Outland? I expected more. I have already completely explored every zone in it.

I intend to turn my favorite dwarf hunter into a troll some time next year. I have to keep a few alliance characters around though in order to participate in the Cataclysm changes, Gnomeregan woot!!

As to killing quest givers my favorite way to do this is to not hand in your DK letter to the king. If you don't had it in you can kill the NPC's in either SW or Ogr with your ghoul. We had quite a group on my server slaying SW with our newly minted DK's.

FOR ARTHAS!!!

There are a lot of little tricks to doing it. I'm now lvling that DK because it makes the slaying even easier, lol. Sadly we cannot kill our own King as he is green. I enjoy causing havoc in my own faction's city, much better than camping Crossroads.

To be fair, when it originally came out you didn't get your flying mount until 70 and hoofed it around Outland.

I quite enjoyed taking to the skies and flying all around.. i just wish there was more of it, and not like Northrend where I have to pay a ton of money to learn to fly... again.

Undead are also fairly evil. They have basically genocidal ambitions, though maybe that's changed in the periods I've been away from the game. Though they didn't clue the rest of the Horde in on it, the idea was they want to kill just about everything that isn't them. Even barring that, though, they're bastards. Magnificent bastards, mind.

Man, I wish. I didn't have the goddamn money for a mount at 40. Those things were expensive! I had to wait until 44, by which time I was trekking through Tanaris. I didn't have enough cash for the epic at 60, either, so I got the cheap one from Alterac Valley. Me being Horde, I pretty much facerolled to exalted with the Alterac Faction as our summoned rock thing beat the crap out of the Alliance; also rogues were absurdly imbalanced so I just did stunlocking. My bags were full of Blind Powder and other stuff we don't use anymore.

...

Those were the days.

Sort of. A Forsaken splintergroup betrayed Horde and Alliance during the first major battle against the Scourge at the Wrathgate, unleashing a deadly blight. Said Splintergroup was led by the demon who stood beside Sylvanas all the time in Undercity. He threw Sylvanas out and as a player you then had to fight your way through Undercity alongside Thrall and Sylvanas to reclaim it.
Ever since then, Thrall has replaced most of the Undercity guards with loyal Korkron guards. Sylvanas and the apothecaries got Orc supervisors too in order to keep a close eye on them.
If they're still planning genocide, it's gotten a lot more difficult with Thrall basically watching every move.

I started my 10 day free trial of the game...it is pretty cool. It will be a while before I can upgrade my account though. I am playing as a Human Warrior. I just started today and i am only a level 5. :(

I just watched that whole thing play out yesterday. It was great. Do Horde get to do that quest chain?

I hated King Varian Wrynn so much at the end, what an asshole.
