Would you watch a ST show with an all-female cast?

doesnt work for me, I like a cast to have a mixed gender. A cast with all males or all females just isn't worth watching. nor can i even think of a show that had an all main+supporting cast of all one gender.

I'm sure Starfleet has a no-discrimation-rule, so it wouldn't be as easy as you suggest.

Actually the Vulcans seemed to practice discrimination a bunch with ships they commanded or held senior officer positions in. See the Intrepid, the Hera, and the T'Kumbra. The case is especially prevalent with the T'Kumbra's Captain Solok, who seemed particularly descriminating of humans and other emotionally encumbered species.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to weigh in on the yes or no. If it's Star Trek, I'll watch it. If that sounds pitiful, that's 'cause it is. :P

The aforementioned Golden Girls (good) or Sex and the City (very, very bad).

One was already mentioned in the "all-male" thread. Law & Order started out all-male, and it got renewed, obviously.

And how can anybody forget The A-Team? (It started out coed, but the woman got dumped real quick, and it was all guys for the rest of its run.)

Sorry, wouldn't work for me. Part of what makes good tv is the exchange between opposing characters, whether it be good and bad guys, young and old, male or female, it just wouldn't work without it. And a ship full of lesbians? Ok, to each there own, but I'm not in favor of making trek into a space porn. And yes, Law and Order, and The A-Team had all male leads for a while, but there were still females.

I think it was called Voyager.

If it's going to be all catsuits, micro-minis and buns-of-evil, count me out.

Maybe, if the most of the episodes either consists of conflicts amongst the crew or hot guys appearances.

Depends on the casting.

If the show featured Jadzia Dax, Seven Of Nine, Leeta, Kira, Ro Laren, Tasha Yar, and T'Pol in a hottub, I'd consider watching it...

If it starred Old Lady Scarred Vina from The Cage, that old chick from TNG 'The Dauphin' and Beverley's grandmother, I'd abstain. Simple as that. ;)

C'mon admit it -- you've got the hots for scarred Vina! :guffaw:-- RR

Yes & No, if Women were the majority cast/crew of a Medical Station or a neighboring Nor-Class outpost such as Litvok Nor, maybe. But just for its own sake? No.

I am inserting RobertScorpio's post from the redundant thread An All Woman Crew??? before it falls into oblivion.
Okay, so we have seen how an all male crew would go over. (I personally wouldn't watch. I need some eye-candy, sorry)...

But would an all female crew go over?

There is a fan producton, on this site, it is called Aurora. And I like it. I think the producer is really putting out good work, especially with the dialog between the female captain and her, I love this part, "vuclan crew"; one vulcan female. And I admit, there is a pseudo-sexual reason i watch. I keep wondering if they will ever 'get together', but its not the main reason I watch. BUT..its always there!!! I know they never will get together, and its cool, but, you know, its there...

An all woman crew, starfleet crew with a few sexy aliens, would, I think, go over big!! Would it attract everyone on this site? No.. (for the same reason My-ex Supergirl friend didn't). But it would attract a good portion of Trek fans, and more importantly, women. And if there is one thing TREKDOM needs is more female fans. It would go along way to helping the 'geek' tag that Trek suffers from. And, more importantly, it might make those conventions more enjoyable.

It would have to be done in a way that had some scifi, some action. But also the kinds of things women/girls would want to see. It could fail if they didn't find the right balance. But I think it would have a better chance to succeed in bringing in bigger numbers than just another Star Trek crew with a bunch of guys on the bridge...IMO.

So what you are suggesting is "Sex and the galaxy" + action. The talking would help the budget...
