It depends on which writers. Some of them wrote a script or two and then you never heard from them again. Others like Gene Coon, DC Fontana and Ron Moore are more iconic and more worth meeting. Really though, I'd just want to talk with people - whether they be actors, writers, designers or janitors - who'd be willing to be candid with their experience on Trek, and tell me stories I've never heard before.
First I'd like to speak to the writers and the artistic staff. The initial genesis from the stories comes from them and I would love to hear about their process.
There are also a couple of artists from the TNG era who I would love to talk to about their appliance sculpting techniques and those that did the costume design. You had some master seastresses in that series...check out those Vulcan costumes!
And I really wouldn't mind having a drink with Jonathan Frakes because he seems like the guy who would tell the best stories. I'd also like to talk to Marina Sirtis to hear her ideas about how Troi could've better developed.
And then of course, I would love with a date with Patrick Stewart. No kidding. We could talk Trek, Shakespeare, politics...whatever. Whattya say, Pat? I'm free next Friday?
Never really cared for actors that much. They are just people who get up in front of a camera and recite some lines. The actors are the image of the characters, but the writers are the characters and the world.
