Actually the press releases are saying it will only air on Crave after it is finished airing on Space. That is pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, I can be patient when I want to, but I'm annoyed the rest of the world is getting a better deal then Canada and the US is. Having to wait till the season is done and watching it on a service you say has technical problems, is pretty bad. Plus will Space cut scenes if the episodes are longer then 43 minutes?

I asked the same above, but Space has a good track record in that regard. They air a lot of British shows where they extend the running time instead of cutting content for commercials. The Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell show they are currently airing has 1 hour 17 minute blocks allocated to it to avoid having to edit content. Ripper Street was the same when it aired, as we're many others. They used to use that as an advertising point for the network.

Yes. I'd like it to be on a site I already pay for and one that has other content I'm interested in. Netflix already has all the Trek series, literally the only thing CBS Access has is the new show. Not a chance.
It would have made more sense to have CBS air the episodes over the air on its network. If not, a CBS on demand only release of new episodes could have worked well, with cord cutters going online to All Access and everyone else getting it from On Demand. The CW would also have made sense as a place for the series to air.
CBS wanted to make Star Trek, because syndication and dvds, and merch, but they knew that they would never get 10 million viewers per week to watch this shit, which would result in cancellation, and screw over their dvd/syndication plans.
If CBS allowed cable TV subscribers to view the show On-Demand via their cable box such as
Verizon Fios On Demand offers [rent for a specific time period or purchase to enjoy for years to come.]

Time Warner Cable says Watch shows the day after they air from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW.
They also have Premiums On Demand. "When you subscribe to premium networks, you also have access to their On Demand companions. Watch movies or original series on your schedule. Plus, use the premium channel apps to watch on your favorite devices."
I could see CBS doing the same thing with CBS All Access. You'd have to have a subscription to CBSAA to access the new Star Trek series anywhere in USA.
Again we'll have to see how it goes with iTunes as that would be purchasing a season pass or basically the entire season of 13 episodes or else per-episode buy-to-own. They may not allow this until May 2017.

I wasn't trying to say that it is completely inaccessible to me, but answering the thread's original question.
I would really prefer it if Star Trek were being distributed by a streaming service that has invested in the hardware and has developed an appropriate array of applications for delivery to a variety of devices like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon has.
If I can't watch it on a nearly brand new smart TV from a major manufacturer, then I think CBS has dropped the ball.
Or maybe they just want to get people to pay for their streaming service.
It's the future of television after all.

Irrelevant. I was addressing the statement that there is LITERALLY nothing other than Trek in All Access.
CBSAA is smaller than Netflix. No one is questioning that. But CBS is a business. That business includes a very large video distribution arm that is the CBS network. You can't expect CBS to say, gee Netflix is bigger/better let's just cede our business and sell all our content to Netflix. So CBS built a competing service and is using Star Trek as the exclusive launch product to get you to subscribe.
Unfortunately that's how the market is going. You can't expect to only pay for one service and get all your content. You want House of Cards and Daredevil, pay for Netflix; You want Man in the High Castle, pay for Amazon; You want 11.22.63, pay for Hulu; And you want Star Trek, pay for CBSAA

Consumers have shown they're willing to pay $100/month for TV entertainment, and business will continue to create offerings so consumers will continue to pay that $100/month. CBSAA is just one of those services.

Its not just that CBS All Access is smaller, it is far less diverse in content. Netflix has network shows, edgy cable content, movies and shows for kids, CBS All Access only has network shows and nothing else I mentioned.
If CBS insists on doing this alone, I am not sure how they would ever have a competitive library with Netflix or any other major streaming site, their library on its own is very limited.
If everyone is getting a streaming service, customers are going to pick and choose which ones they like and it takes more than one show to retain subscribers. Star Trek may justify having CBS All Access for a month, but to keep subscribers, they need to increase the size and scope of their library, which means making deals with other content providers or getting left behind.

It's a new market but apparently that means that no business should try anything new ever. Slightly hyperbolic, but that's the general attitude I sense. I wasn't aware that every thing CBS had to make was pure gold right out of the gate. I need to get a new job then.
Personally, I have no problem with spending $6 a month at this point in time. CBS has a lot of shows in their archives that I enjoy and would love to be able to share with my family. Since I don't have a cable bill, and only have Netflix, this is a small change to my media habits.
As a general rule, I'm in a "wait and see" mode. There were indications from CBS that All Access would receive a small overhaul as part of the new Trek launch. I'll gladly give them the benefit of the doubt if that means they will try some thing new.
Regarding the misuse of "literally," ozzfloyd's concern is valid. Emphatic hyperbole like that is usually the mark of a poor argument struggling to make itself appear more true than it really is. Or it could tend to discredit an otherwise valid point.
Or it could be a sign of a tired post. Or the writer could have absent-minded my omitted "the only thing I'm interested in". Or any of a dozen other reasons.
