Would Trek be relevant today as it was years ago?

It wouldn't be as relevant to tv overall but it would to sci-fi tv. We don't really have any space opera's on tv anymore

Killjoys

Dark Matter

Doctor Who

There's a nice amount of space opera on tv right now. That's in addition to all the other science fiction (and fantasy).

I'm just disappointed they are all short seasons. I'm hating that trend. I'd rather see them break the shows up over the entire year than have such a long off season.

It depends on how the stories are handled. Some can be too specific and feel quite topical, which can give a dated feel. Others can be more open and address situations, rather than particular people.

Though, I have a feeling DSC would be more pointed and targeted in some shows, due to the current political climate, where everything is political.
