Would like to see Enterprise come back…

John Billingsly turned down an offer to return as Phlox in Strange New Worlds, citing hours of makeup. Click!

So I spoke to John today. He said he was actually offered an audition for Prodigy not Strange New Worlds. “Kate M.’s show.”

He also said casting directors make that call, and he’s not even sure the producers knew it was going on. But in any event, yes he turned it down.

That explains the audition process then. It had nothing to do with Phlox. It was likely for a different alien character in animation. He didn't get that role in any case, and from there thoughts drifted back to a potential scenario where Star Trek might ask him to play Phlox again... but doesn't relish being in the make-up anymore. He would happily provide the voice, in a similar way to the thing he was auditioning for.

I think they were two separate questions.

It's possible there is a particular episode of Prodigy that they might have liked him to record a few lines for. I haven't seen Prodigy, but I do know there's a certain episode where old faces show up.

The latest episode of Picard makes special mention of the OV-165 Shuttle seen in Enterprise's titles.

I guess what's interesting is how that vehicle is basically a continuation of the Space Shuttle program, indicating how Star Trek's past/present day differs from our reality with less robotic deep space exploration. I mean, we certainly won't be sending people in vehicles back to our moon, much less a moon of Jupiter within two years... and it continues the idea begun with TOS "Tomorrow is Yesterday", with pioneering manned flights within the Solar System and Captain Christopher's son probably having gone to Saturn before now.

I know the episode you are talking about.

Maybe they should have aimed for a similar concept with the same style as PRO, but as a Short Trek and use only the ENT members that want to work instead? And drop the whole “need to audition” stuff.

Star Trek Enterprise was not given the chance to expand & broaden the story line on the beginnings of the Federation surely the people at the top knew that this was a gold mine of unexplored stories plus to see Enterprise in her refit configuration would been something to see. When Enterprise first started there was no "Techno Babble" which made the series much more interesting than the previous Star Trek series which has gone before .

No, but Artemis 3 is scheduled to return humanity to the Moon within three years. :bolian:

it's a shame the reunion is happening on the picard show

Anything is possible. It depends on what for the reunion is like, since What We Left Behind was the DS9 reunion and that was a documentary.

I think the best barometer for a reunion is if all the cast appear on the Shuttlepod Show at some point. We’re just waiting on Linda Park, Scott Bakula & Jolene Blalock to make an appearance. In the case of Blalock, it would be a very big deal, since that would be the first major interview Jolene Blalock has given since ENT ended to any media outlet. And aside from a cameo appear at Star Trek Day last year, she hasn’t been seen anywhere near Trek.

I would love it, buuuuuuut... they've gotten too old. Its Firefly all over again - they've waited too long, and fans just wouldn't be satisfied with another crew. All the 'investment' in the characters gets sucked right out. Maybe do a show about that second Enterprise-class ship? The one with the famale captain? (how progressive! lol) That could work, because we only got to it/them/her a couple of times, so their is no pre-investment. A show like that could build on what was done in Enterprise, and if it does well, we can have some (de-aged?) cameos from the other crew.

And now I am thinking Strange New Worlds (Thats the Pike one, right?) could find the old Enterprise - it was decommissioned and was supposed to be scrapped, but the 'junkers' who bought it sold it to some nefarious types...
That would make for a great cross-over episode (is it a crossover if only the ship appears?) Maybe find Porthos' old chew toy somewhere?

Its not about age and never has been; creativity can get around that issue. Its about money i.e. be cheaper to produce than Discovery, live action or not. No pitch for anything ENT related is getting anywhere without accounting for the latter.

The best chance is that SNW does a “Trials & Tribble-ations” two parter or three parter featuring the NX-01 crew in some long-lost mission. And a clone of Empress Sato /recording of Empress Sato appears in the SNW mirror episode when it happens. Those are the cheapest options, at least in regards to live action.
