Worst TNG Episode Ever?

Ahh, it looks like a 'worst episode' thread has been created once again.

My picks, off the top of my head:

*Data's Day (so cheesy!)
*Shades of Grey (clip show)
*The Inner Light (*yawn*)
*The Outrageous Okona

(I'm sure there are more. I'm not a big fan of TNG, even though there are some episodes I can revisit every now and then).

The two worst are so obvious that I'm a bit stunned no one's naming them: Code of Honor, and Naked Now. Perhaps you needed to block out all memory of them ...

Those are not the two worst. Both Data's Day & In Theory are worst. Code Of Honor and The Naked Now are at least laughable.

You must really not like Data haha. I actually quite like both episodes as they're great character-building episodes for Data.

And I think season 1 should be immune as the series was still finding itself and sorting itself out so some bad episodes could be excused. Season 2 to Season 7 no more excuses :)

I don't judge all TNG in the same way. I feel like Seasons 1 and 2 are mostly garbage anyway so I don't judge it as harshly whereas if the later seasons have a bad episode they should know better. I actually think Redemption II is bad in that it tries to juggle too many plotlines and any one of them could've been a decent episode on their own. I can't get past some of the stupid decisions in Descent, whereas I used to enjoy that as a kid. I think my bias comes down to that I would rather watch a horrible trainwreck like The Naked Now that an episode that is just boring or stupid.

Always interesting seeing others opinions, no matter how far off your own they may be.

Honestly, some of these would never even enter my mind in the context of worst episodes..

The other interesting thing is human nature. You can post a counter-point to "worst-of" threads but the "best-of" threads never get the same views. Ah that wonderful amygdala.

RAMA

Conspiracy. I don't like the creepy alien concept and Remmick's exploding head on top of that. Although I really enjoyed the parasite's reappearance in the novels.

Oh come on really? That was a GREAT one, probably the best out of the entire first season. But I guess to each their own.

I didn't like the exploding head scene - which was cut out of ther German version when it aired.
The parasites showed up in the DS9 relaunch novels. They still were creepy, but the authors refrained from telling the storyline too gory. So the parasites story was resolved satisfyingly.
The whole violence stuck out negatively. As to the excitement: there were several episodes more boring than Conspiracy.

No offense but your femininity is showing. Women just don't seem to like gore and violence the way men do. For me, a show with lots of blood is usually something good : ) I love when Picard blows the alien's head off. Great stuff!

Non taken. I appreciate thrillers with more subtle violence, just hinted.

Conspiracy is an episode I imagine the writers found relaxing to write. Lots of cheap thrills like Picard looking a bit claustrophobic whilst his living insect-dinner mournfully looks up at him, Starfleet brass speaking in cheesy evil doer euphemisms, the elderly Quinn doin' his kung fu karate kick and of course the notorious scene where our heroes give Remmick the kind of migraine no amount of aspirin will cure. Some dumb stuff but all fun stuff. .

I was never very keen on Hide and Q (my least favourite Q episode). It had clunky dialogue, poor special effects and the whole thing just doesn't mesh (plus who else laughed out loud at the "adult" Wesley? Cringe overload alert!).

I couldn't stand Up The Long Ladder, Manhunt, or Shades of Gray either.

Bottom Ten:
167.) The Outrageous Okona
168.) Justice
169.) Half a Life
170.) The Neutral Zone
171.) Angel One
172.) Code of Honor
173.) Up the Long Ladder
174.) The Last Outpost
175.) Shades of Grey
176.) Homeward

I'm puzzled by people giving "Manhunt" the thumbs down. Of course I'm getting mixed up between it and "The Hunted"

I found "Manhunt" amusing enough. Picard drafting in Data to defend him from LT. But of course I can understand people reading "Manhunt" and anticipating a tense high drama chase only to find Mrs. T trying to get her leg over Rex the holographic bartender. Bit of an anti-climax that one alright.

Actally, Data's my favorite character of the series, even as a kid. But both Data's Day & In Theory were snore-bore's the first time that I saw them and to this day they are still snore-bore's.

With Data's Day
everytime that I watch it I get the feeling that it was shot during a week where the sun did not shine till like Saturday, and that from Monday to Friday every day was dark, overcast, and it just rained and rained and rained, with the occasional rumble of thunder and flash of lightning, and everyone, while trying to express happiness and other happy emotions, were feeling really depressed by the weather.

Data's Day is a strong episode. Can't get enough of Data's big grin. In Theory is OK but is one of those undemanding episodes that I'm never inspired to sit down to rewatch. But it's not "stand out" "bad" either though.

I thought "Data's Day" was a decent episode, will likely never watch "In Theory" again.

Generally, event he bad TNG episodes are watchable for me. Even bad TNG is better than any reality TV.

The two I can't decide which is the worst is Up the Long Ladder, and Sub Rosa. I always skip both, when I do a TNG marathon!
