Worst Star Trek character ever

The Overlord

Who is the worst Star Trek character ever? I will say Neelix, at least Wesley developed into a tolerable character, Neelix was an annoyance the entire time. He once got a crew man killed due to his own incompetence and was never punished for it.

Yeah, I think this could fall on any of the Voyager cast. The crew was cast and written by committee and it ended up being the most uninteresting gathering of characters ever assembled.

^Yeah, it's weird how one of the great innovators in trial practice first became known to me--indelibly known to me--as a bald, repetitive child predator in a glammed-up Eagle Sam costume.

Anyway, Pulaski would be my choice; her horrible bigotry was unacceptable. At least Neelix never sat down with Chakotay and denied his personhood just because he was a robot.

The competition for this one will be pretty tough.
I have to say Lwaxana Troi, tho' Deanna gave her a run for her rmoney.

Wesley Crusher, hands down. Every time I see his face on the screen his voice is drowned out by this loud whistling in my head and my vision becomes blurry. The guy looks like he has full-blown AIDS and I don't like his attitude.

I'm with Neelix on this one. Every time he got into a "Mr. Vulcan" conversation with Tuvok, I really wished Tuvok would kill him already. Unfortunately, we got seven seasons of him.

Is there a limit on this? Major? Minor? Series? Movies?

Because I'm going with Kirk's curly headed son.

Wesley. Neelix wasn't that bad, and not in the same league as Wesley. I found Neelix occasionally annoying in early seasons, but he had a badass skullet mohawk that made it ok. But Wesley was a perpetual hate magnet. I also hated Ensign Ro. I got damn sick of her generic deadpan angst so quick it's not funny.

I'd also like to nominate Yarr and Pulaski. I actively beamed hate towards them every time they were on screen. Yarr was the crappiest security officer ever, and Pulaski was just an angry old lady. My friend was kind enough not to spoil the surprise that Yarr got killed before I watched it. Good times.

And also, every Ferengi ever.

Probably Chakotay.

Neelix was annoying, but at least he generated some kind of response from the audience. I always felt there was some potential in Neelix, but for whatever reason, the writers decided that he was destined to be their comic relief character (despite comedy not being the show's strongest point, and the Doctor being inherently funnier anyway).

Chakotay was guilty of the much greater sin of dullness. Most of Voyager's human characters suffered from this to some degree (the wonderfully potty Janeway excluded), but Chakotay had precisely one character trait - his spirituality - and even that was derived from his race.

You know, even that could have been interesting if it had been handled properly. I mean, how common are religious beliefs amongst humans in the future? I've no idea, because while Voyager could have explored Chakotay's status as a spiritual man in a mostly-secular organisation, it... didn't.

It's not surprising that the least popular TNG characters seem to be Tasha, Pulaski and Wesley, but I will say this... keep in mind that they were only around for the early, comparatively sub-par seasons. If Geordi, for example, left before the end of the first season, would he be remembered as anything other than a poorly thought out gimmick character? Much like Neelix, I feel these are characters that at least had the potential to be great.

On DS9, there was nobody on the main cast I really disliked, but on the extended cast, I had a slightly irrational dislike of Kassidy Yates. Also, pretty much any male Bajoran, most of whom seemed to have the Chakotay gene.

Trelene or possibly Q. I find them equally annoying. Luckily Q came with good stories attached to his episodes.

Of all the characters I have observed sufficiently so far, I'd say these are the characters that I can hardly stand:
- all Ferengi in existence.
- female Q
- Chakotay
- Harry Kim
- Tom Paris
- B'Elanna Torres
- Sulu
- Janice Rand [but more for her lack of character]
- Hoshi Sato

This is only a short list as I only judge characters when I understand them, which by great lengths of patience, have ruled the following out from my hated-characters list because I understood them and I'll now classify as still-at-least-slightly-annoying-but-tolerable:
- Deanna Troi
- William Riker
- Katherine Polaski
- Wesley Crusher
- Dr. Maddox [had to watch Data's Day twice to recover from The Measure Of A Man]

But I still have a great number of characters to observe.

The worst Star Trek characters of all, in order:

1. Chakotay
The most boring man alive.

2. Beverlump
"I need to run more tests"
