Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

This is my favorite pic so far. While Christopher Reeve had plenty of physical similarities to Superman, the main thing he had going for him was complete confidence while wearing the suit. He never once looked self-conscious while wearing it.

Palicki's giving off a similar vibe in this picture. I imagine it's no mean feat to walk around in a red bustier and a tiara in broad daylight, surrounded by dozens of people on set.

you are right. It is a big plus for the show.

However, Helen Slater looked quite confident in her Supergirl outfit, and even Ebert, who hated the film, said that at least you don't see a gimmick, or a cheesy costume, you see Supergirl, plain and simple.

The point: the script still needs to be good.

Good news! Writer-producer David E. Kelley shared his interest in bringing back Smallville's Clark Kent for NBC's new superhero drama Wonder Woman. And guess what? Actor Tom Welling has agreed to bring him back. Not only has he agreed, he’s overly excited to do so. In an interview with TV Guide, he shared his elation about working on the new show.

I'm getting use to the red boots, I guess...they work for Superman, after all.
Wonder Woman has always had red boots in the comics.

Except when she had sandals way back when, but that has nothing to do with what I posted. The initial version of this outfit had boots matching the tights, which I preferred. The red boots look a little too hookerish for my taste, and I don't actually give a damn how many times they've appeared in comic books.

i prefer the new red boots, especially since they're more comic accurate. the blue boots were just too much blue.

It is all working for me now except for that belt. The 'buckle' area seems to have no thought put into the design at all. Its like they started to make it into a double-W shape, then gave up halfway through.

I don't give a damn what's "comic accurate." They change WW's costume in the comics like - well, like it was actually clothing.

The three-dimensional plastic parts of the outfit are certainly an improvement over the gold lame trim on Carter's - talk about a Hallowe'en costume.

(As for her current garb in the comics, with the aviator goggles or whatever, I think it looks awful.)

And I can't stand the current "aviator glasses" look, either. What the bloomin' 'eck aviator goggles have got to do with cats has always been quite beyond me.

Bah. I like the aviator goggles outfit. I assume they have some sort of lowlight lenses or infrared or other stuff. Or at the very least help protect against glare and do a bit to mask her identity. :p

Having time to study it a bit and do some dirty photoshopping to confirm my suspicions, the only notable changes I would make to the current outfit is to add a proper W shape into the center of the belt where one is already (badly) implied, and move the eagle up to the top of the halter. I wouldn't mind seeing several versions of the outfit throughout the show though, as long as it didn't become a gimmick.

I think she's dressed like a bar maid working a honkytonk bar, not that there's anything wrong with that, but stressing the importance of what's "written" on her belt buckle does nothing to unsettle that assumption.

I honestly see her "costume" as something a real person might wear on the pull.

Actually that page demonstrates the remarkably consistent nature of her costume (as is true of Superman, Batman, Captain America and all the big heroes, really). Major changes have been extremely short-lived, with the one exception being the W they used to replace the eagle. But that eventually morphed into an eagle anyway.

Now, make sure you add some sort of insult when you respond, so I'll know it's you.

Well, that's not entirely true. For one thing, she started out in 1940 wearing culottes, which soon changed into shorts, which got progressively shorter over the next couple of decades. Then in '72 (after the four-year powerless period where she gave up the costume altogether, not exactly an "extremely short-lived" change), the shorts were replaced with briefs, which got progressively higher-cut over the next couple of decades. As for the WW emblem, it didn't so much morph back into an eagle as it became a WW stylized to resemble an eagle (or vice-versa).

So while the general design has remained consistent, details such as the style and length of the portion below the waist have changed substantially, and those changes have tended to be basically permanent.

IOW, a good thing. :)

Exactly. Yet people are whining because she's not wearing satin granny pants this time out.

I like the pants better live action than I do in the comics. Any clue how much Paradise Island stuff is going to make it into this show. No doubt as flashbacks or dream sequences. Or has that been completely removed from this version of the character?

^No specifics yet on that, but it's a safe bet that this show is going to be aimed at a general audience that might be uncomfortable with the more outre stuff like Amazon islands and mythological deities, so it's bound to emphasize more down-to-Earth stuff, at least early on. Maybe if it succeeds, the more fanciful elements will be gradually worked in.

And as such is more practical and realistic than a cowl or the Pfeiffer costume (which, IMO, always looked stupid to me. To each their own). I much prefer the aviator glasses look myself. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the current look also inspired by a cosplay girl who designed her own costume and it became popular at conventions so they adopted it for the comic? That's a story I've heard but it might be fandom legend.

Re: Red boots.

Someone mentioned above asking why they changed to the red boots. I read one review that indicated that it made the outfoot appear more balanced. I agree. Also, in action sequences, especially fights and anything shot on a sunny day from a distance, her feet would become invisible at the end of the "pegs". The red feet also helps draw the eye away from the stunt double's face too. Makes sense to me, anyway.

Just as long as they don't take half a decade to get around to it like they did with Smallville, which lost me permanently early on after spending way too much time downplaying the whole Superman aspect to the point where it stopped being Superman and ended up being a riff on Roswell. They eventually got back to basics and in the last couple years actually seemed to remember the show was based on a comic book, but by then I didn't care anymore.
