Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

Disappointing but not at all surprising. Indeed, the surprising part is Tenet's release was only pushed back by two weeks. Also kind of annoying is there's another movie due out on the October 2 weekend I plan on seeing, though I guess that might get postponed in light of this news.
I don't know if this is related to the shift in Tenet and WW84 release date, but it's being reported that Godzilla and the new Matrix have both seen their release dates moved up to 2021 and 2022
Godzilla maybe, since IIRC that was due out in November. Combine that with the fact there's now more blockbusters due out in November it didn't have to compete with originally, like Black Widow and No Time to Die, and a postponement only makes sense.

The Matrix, I suspect has more to do with the fact they're still filming so they need extra time whenever this shit passes.
At this point I think the studios should consider a VOD/Pay per View model for the near future.
A moot suggestion in this case since Warner Bros has already come out and said they're against the idea. And after the trouble Universal has gotten itself into regarding their VOD releases, I'm doubting many other studios are going to be too eager to try it out anytime soon.

Basically, in response to the fact that VOD releases of the Universal movies that should have been in theatres being successful, Universal has begun considering VOD releases of all their movies, even after Corona passes, simultaneous with the theatrical release. Several US theatre chains (AMC in particular) have already spoken out against the idea and said if Universal does indeed do this for even one of their movies after the crisis passes, they will boycott all Universal movies.

It doesn't seem to have bothered the other studios too much, The King of Staten Island just came out on Amazon Prime, My Spy is coming out on AP next week, Tom Hank's WWII movie Greyhound is coming to Apple TV+ next month, and Artemis Fowl just came to Disney+ last week.

But in those cases, those movies are not having any theatrical releases at all anymore, even once the crisis passes. And there aren't any plans to release any theatrical releases directly to VOD after the crisis is over.

Then I am glad AMC is in dire straits. Behold my schadenfreude.

Total Film has a new feature on WW84 in its upcoming issue, including a new cover and a new still from the movie:

Dammit, the internet is going to be a minefield, because apparently somebody thought it a good idea to push the release date of the movie, but not the release date of the junior novelization. Brace yourselves, people, spoilers are coming.

Thanks for the warning.
Sounds like somebody definitely wasn't thinking there.
Just out of curiosity, I looked it up on Amazon and they do have a look inside feature with the prologue and at least part of the first chapter. I haven't read it, but I might later.

One silver lining: Young adult novelizations of big blockbuster movies, especially superhero movies, usually stop at the beginning of the third act. So you're only getting between 2/3rd and 3/4th of the movie there. They do that to lure kids into buying tickets to get 'the rest of the story.'

I think I remember hearing about an adult novelization that did that, and then offered the rest of the book as a free download after the movie came out.

I am not surprised. When stuff is planned so far in advanced it’s hard to stop production and release. I picked up a Wonder Woman figure of her in the golden eagle suit at Walgreens at least two months ago. Drove to another one and found the regular suit too. I believe there was WW84 promotion Doritos in stores even further back than that.

By the time the movie is actually released all that stuff will likely be long gone
