Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

So glad Sony has Spiderverse, since they made a better movie than most of the Marvel flicks.

Oh, to be sure. The MCU's Spidey-Lad was nothing distinctive for the character. He was just there just to say he was a part of the MCU, and had none of the individual life the comic source had.

Oh, please. They didn't rush anything. JL was the DCEU's 5th film. The Avengers was Marvel's 6th.

Agreed, but notice how some gloss over that, when the MCU could be accused of rushing to their 1st loud, cartoony group film.

Marvel's works because they found a formula that they could repeat over and over again for their prime audience, middleschoolers

..and formulaic most of them were/are, with plots that would easily fit into the Power Rangers. Sort of funny that in addition to the great Captain America movies (well, part of Civil War), Disney/Marvel's best adaptations were on TV with Daredevil, The Punisher and Luke Cage--all were superior at capturing the heart of their source than most MCU films, and they were mature productions.

Some adults who find themselves attracted to entertainment targeted at a family audience do seem to like to label anything more challenging than "All-Ages" works in whatever negative term sounds cool to them at the given moment. 'Edgelord' is a particularly popular catch-all phrase to label people who aren't just interested in unchallenging entertainment

Its an immature slur used by those--in no surprise--are die-hard supporters of content that can be rather silly.

.
I find labeling people who enjoy art that challenges in ways them in ways that family entertainment does not with such toxic terms to be rather antisocial in intent.

True.

The thing is... DC already HAS the big group of "Super Friends" in the public consciousness, that they COULD have STARTED that way, and really should have.
I think a lot of people forget that we very nearly did get jump right to a JL film back in 2007-08, with the Mad Max series director George Miller's Justice League: Mortal. They had a script and a cast, with DJ Carona as Superman, Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, Common as Green Lantern, Adam Brody as The Flash, and Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord. It was going to start filming, but was originally postponed by the Writers' Strike, and then other delays lead WB to decide to go with solo films instead, and we ended up getting Green Lantern. I can't help but wonder how different the DC film universe would look today if we had gotten Mortal.

There's a script going around online for JL: Mortal. While it did need some additional work (obviously, otherwise the Writers' Strike wouldn't have dealt such a blow to the production), it was actually pretty good, and I'm kinda sorry we never got to see this movie.

I think you're confusing "motivations" with "actions". Magneto was a damn holocaust survivor. Are you going to suggest surviving a Nazi extermination camp is an "idiotic motivation" too?

I think his overall goal of Mutant Superiority is short-sighted and more emotional than logical, yes.

But it doesn't change that for all the MCU villains who folks say are weak or have poor motivations, they had no problem with Kingpins' relatively lame motives.

Oh, to be sure. The MCU's Spidey-Lad was nothing distinctive for the character. He was just there just to say he was a part of the MCU, and had none of the individual life the comic source had.

As opposed to being Raimi's Sadsack? MCU Peter is basically a less moody take on Ultimate Spider-Man with Stark in place of Fury.

Or LOTR, or Star Trek, or Star Wars, or James Bond...

Eh, Luke Cage fell apart after episode 9, DD only had 1 truly great season and Punisher was never more than mediocre.

But that's what happens when you restrict yourself to that bankrupt "grounded" approach.

Its an immature slur used by those--in no surprise--are die-hard supporters of content that can be rather silly.

So yes, you decry anything that isn't Hard R or NC-17.

Or maybe we just want to be left in peace to enjoy stuff that can be appreciated by all ages instead of pretentious "If you cannot comprehend it, it's true art!" snobbery,

How the f.. is Steve back (not that i'm complaining, Chris Pine kills it in this role)?

At first i thought it was a hallucination or a dream she had but as the trailer went on it seems it isn't so. Great trailer, can't wait to see the movie.

Looks good. I missed some of the dialogue before Steve showed up, was something about being given what you most desire?
Yeah. My guess from the trailer is that Lord magically revives Steve as Diana's heart's desire, but that he intends to exact a price in return for his gifts.

It's a pretty great trailer. Starts off a bit slow, but takes off around the halfway mark. The glimpses of things like the highway battle, Amazonian Ninja Warrior, lightning wrangling, and Diana's armor are all pretty amazing. Love the music, too.

I wasn't particularly blown away by the first movie, (found it a massive step up after BvS though) but this trailer is pretty damn good. ...Then again, Suicide Squad had some really great, stylish trailers too. ;)

This looks like all the worst parts of the first movie rolled up into a movie on their own. God awful trash. And the 80s nostalgia doesn't even look good.

Same thoughts right here!

Obviously, he is now going to be the Summer Soldier for Diana!

I love you just for coming up with Summer Soldier!!

Suicide Squad looks awesome in the trailers allright, and sucked as a movie....Here's hoping this isn't the case.

You do know we are all aware you're just trying to be negative to get attention right?? Like a child hungry for daddy's attention?

The DCEU kept making great trailers, with the movies hardly ever living up to them.
