None of the actors who played Sisko ever had a goatee.

It was a van dyke.

What's the difference?

Well, technically all beards that incorporate a mustache-and-beard combo and surround only the mouth while the cheeks remain clean-shaven are actually 'van dykes'. Traditionally, a 'goatee beard' is actually only a beard on the chin, without any sort of mustache at all (hence it being a bit like those tufts of hair on the chin of a goat). Somewhere along the line people started mistakenly refering to van dykes as goatees though, so that's where the confusion stems from.

I've worn a mustache for most of the last 40 years, but when I had to quit work 10 years ago, I cut back on shaving (poor depth perception due to partial blindness). So I let it all grow now. Every few months I use scissors to cut it back when it's longer than I can handle. Same with the hair.
