Why the hate for Alex Kurtzman?

But there are many who just find logical in-universe inconsistencies and will point them out.

e.g. (The latest Klingon MakeUp Change in DISCO S1)

That was a easily avoid-able problem or there are easy to explain in-universe solutions that they can come up with.

I don't think you understand, sometimes folks like to put the puzzle together themselves. It gives people stuff to chew on after the episode has finished. The inconsistencies in TOS itself, has driven my love for it over the decades.

The absolute worst thing CBS could do is try to get rid of inconsistencies.

They could produce an episode of Trek that's been written and scrutinized by the world's biggest Trekkies, and some fans will still find something wrong with it as it doesn't fit their image of what should have happened. I'd rather have someone be a good writer than a good Trekkie working on the staff.

Why can't we have both?

We can have good Writing Staff & good Trekkie Staff working together?

It doesn't have to be One or the Other.

Synergy, let each one do what they're good at.

It's honestly why I wish J. Michael Straczynski's Reboot the Universe pitch had been made into a series. We could've wiped the slate clean and started the whole thing from scratch.
I guess I'm one of the few people who just accepts the Trek World as it is, and will make use of any changes that happens.

Even DISCO with it's "Spore Drive". I can make use of that in the future Lore / Universe of Trek.

Depends on the inconsistency. Where are we at, right now? 800 or 900 episodes. What do you with a story where two prior episodes contradict each other?
Any examples?

Which is why I've always thought the time for a complete and total reboot of the franchise was in order. So we can generate all-new inconsistencies.
I generally despise "Reboots" & prefer continuing the Universe as is, "Warts & All".

I can't do anything if that's their attitude.

There is a difference between:

Oh, they changed the Klingon make up

and

OMG!! Those bastards changed the Klingon make up!!! How dare they!!! All involved should be drawn and quartered! This is an affront to fandom and all of Star Trek! Decanonize! Decanonize! Decanonize!

Writers shouldn't write with the fandom devil on their shoulder.

I think this is the biggest thing. I'm already having to report to a producer, and EP and whatever notes I get from corporate. Now I also have to fucking have my script noted by some canon wiener.

I wouldn't want to work under those conditions.
You just reminded me of that article which came out recently on Deadline or Variety about how streamers are getting these sounding board councils of fans that review spec projects to give their blessing. (Tried to find the article, but I'm not having any luck)

I can't imagine a group of opinions I want to have less on my scripts than a group of fanbois. Can you imagine a future of Trek meted out by a jackass like Robert Meyer Burnett? Fuck that shit.

That's what happens when you enter "ANY Fandom" in "ANY Franchise/IP".

That can't be avoided.

Sounds like a surefire way to stymie a writer's creativity
Some of the best artistic works comes from when you have limits to work within.

Alot of the best art in the modern day comes from working within limitations.

If that were true, you wouldn't be complaining about how the shows should have a canon reconciler.
It's to prevent unnecessary inconsistencies / issues.

It has to start somewhere,

He's been a Trek fan longer than I've been alive.

I don't watch any of his content, so I don't know what he's about other than he has his own YT shows / Content Network.

He's a bloviating, loud-mouthed, gatekeeper prick. At one point, he managed to make himself persona non grata with Paramount due to his abhorrent behavior whilst aligned with the Axanar project. I still remember him doxxing people on twitter during that fiasco.

That's just off the top of my head.
Ah, IC.

Sounds like a guy you don't want to hang out with.
