Everytime someone opens a thread expressing even the MILDEST complaint about what they know about this movie the same dozen or so forum regulars JUMP ON THEM with posts like "OMG!!! YOU STUPID TREKKIE ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS CONTINUITY, GROW UP, PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEX LIKE ME DON'T CARE ABOUT CANON OR RONDEBERRY IN FACT I HOPE THE MOVIE CHANGES EVERYTHING JUST TO ANGER UP YOUR BLOOD FURTHER, HAHAHA, STUPID TREKKIE, STAR TREK ISN'T FOR YOU!" It doesn't matter if their concern is perfectly valid or even if it's nothing to do with continuity errors (yes it's possible to think the Enterprise being built on the ground in Iowa is lame WITHOUT caring that it's a break of canon) they still get the same almost bullying response, as if they should be made to feel ashamed for caring about Star Trek.
What's funny is that the people posting these attacks are obviously Trekkers too, so why are they so mean? Is it because they were picked on in school and now they're acting out revenge by picking on Trek fans themselves!?
Maybe there should be a partition down the middle of every threatre when this movie comes out: one side for people who love Transformers and Lost In Space and just want to see stuff blow up and snappy action dialogue and one side for those who care about quality and watch with a more critical eye.
