Why has it become cool to hate Star Trek fans?

Odd... I don't hate or diss on people for being trekkers/trekkies. I am one that wouldn't be very logical.
It's when they are the complete opposite I strongly dislike them.

And on the defining what Trek fans are, socialy awkard, obsessive, virgins etc etc. And the same for stereotyping sports fans. Both are very far from the truth. I proudly count myself among both groups along with most my friends and family and the stereotypical qualities just aren't present. Both stereotypes(Nerd, Jocks) come from people on both sides trying to belittle people who are smarter or more physicaly gifted than they are and it's very childish.

[witty retort about you being a complete tool or whatnot]
;)

It's got nothing to do with "hating." It has to do with impatience and annoyance at reading repetitious, trivial, obsessive and unimaginative complaints every time a new topic is opened.

If people are going to express their complaints, they'll have to accept others expressing their annoyance.
