Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could find?

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

i wonder how geordie could see a hologramm, his visor didn't operate with visible light. that engineer love of him as photonic and the real thing must have looked quite differently to him. on the other hand, in the movie generations he could obviously see like one of us, while in an earlier episode, there was just a blur.
don't you think tng was extremely sexist? most of the female characters were annoying, the o'brien woman, tasha yar who didn't even survive one season, and the two sleeping pills troi and crusher in particular. the women of voy, ds9, and ent were a lot more colourful.

Hey, they were certainly more assertive and played more of a forward role compared to the women on TOS..... that and it was still the 80's for the most part, where things were still on the move in gender equality.

But having a female senior security officer, a female chief medical officer, and troi who seemed to know exactly what to say to help people in the episodes, I can't agree with your above claims.

Nor do I see how being annoying equates to sexist. Annoying is subjective in this case.

Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could find?

Because he was too tired from working all day to waste his time going after all the ugly chicks.

Re: Geordi and Sonya Gomez--so, no one thinks it would be kind of messed up for a guy to try to fuck his direct subordinate? Fair enough, I guess.

I do. Glad they didn't go that route. -- RR

Geordi is an eternal optimist.

ok, annoying is subjective. objective however is that they were sort of not so competent, and not contributing a lot. amongst the 5 docs, crusher is the poorest by a large margin. the job of a councellor was dropped in ds9, voy, and ent. really, wasn't it pathetic every time picard turned to troi for her educated guess, and she tried to look important and babbled something like 'i feel loneliness'. yar also pales compared with worf, tuvok, and in particular odo.

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

I wrote half a story were Gomez was a grieving and pregnant "widow" after her boyfriend Data died in Nemesis.

I really took that saying "thank you" to replicators to heart.

really she was so adorable she could have been paired with anyone except Beverly who is a little disgusted by girl on girl.

Now I'm wondering which girl Sonya would make a cute couple with, now.

Beverly was played by probably the hottest woman in TNG (and only surpassed by the absolute stunning babes they had on TOS occasionally). Also Beverly is the most "realistic" doctor ever portrayed in Star Trek (Although I liked Bashir and give him 2nd prize). Dr. McCoy was a great character but he seemed to do more "He's dead Jim!" and "I'm a doctor not a physician!!" one liners than actual medical practice. And The Doctor in Voyager was a joke. What *couldn't* that guy heal?

Also Beverly was the most outspoken person in the crew, directly challenging Picard several times on issues she believed were worthy of challenge.

And Tasha Yar managed to kick ass and still be a likable woman. But it seems that if a woman isn't bitchy and kicking every guy in the balls just for the hell of it (Kira Nerys? or nuStarbuck?) then she's "not a strong woman"

^^^ Thank you for this finally! I have often come across people saying that Beverly was weak and boring, and more often than not we hear that Pulaski was better because she stood her ground. Does everybody forget how many times Bev called Picard out, or told him off for something she felt strongly on without being abrasive. I apologise for taking this thread further OT, but I had to applaud the above post.

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

Geordi just wasn't great with women, so what?

There was always then semi-autistic element to him as well. His best friends were a child and a robot. They should have made him gay, that would have been ballsy.

The blind black gay guy?

Talk about a minority of a miniority of a minority.

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

So television must deal with majorities?

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

Praxius, I believe you are thinking of Ensign Sonya Gomez, who made two season 2 appearances. She was famous for spilling hot chocolate all over Picard. ;) and yes, LaForge should have hit that, too.

This other one the OP and I mentioned... was either in season 6 or 7... perhaps at the same time Geordi tried growing a beard...

Dag, there's gotta be a better pic of her than this one. Those eyes, she looks like this :cardie:

Geordi LaForge and Ensign Sonya Gomez, I can total see these two on a date. Geordi will put on his off-duty VISOR and some casual clothes, Sonya will slip into her favorite slinky dress. Drinks in ten-forward, then a short walk to a nearby holodeck night club for hot dancing, nice.

:)

More like, she has to have some character depth, development and an actress with some acting ability, to be a good character, rather than just to be there so we could see "oh, here's a hot kickass female! Wow, she can fight! How cool! Here's a strong woman!". :vulcan:

And I'm trying hard to think of the times Kira "kicked a guy in the balls just for the hell of it". Hmmm... oh, that must be that time she kicked Damar for being a racist ass to Ziyal? Or when she was kidnapped that Bajoran doctor in "Babel" for nothing but not giving a shit if everyone on the station died, and refusing to provide and antidote for a deadly virus in whose creation he had participated... Or maybe you just don't like her being angry for that tiny, unimportant little grievance called the Occupation of Bajor? Yeah, such a bitch for no reason.

Re: Why did Geordi always try to go for the hottest chicks he could fi

LaForge and Gomez? Eeew...:wtf:

LaForge is just one of those hopelessly unlucky in love types. Something always seems to get in the way or those relationships just never quite work out...

I'll ignore the "LaForge and Gomez? Eeew..." bit. :borg:

Tell LaForge to step up to the bar and welcome to the club, I can relate with him on that, and drinks are on me. :shifty:

I say why not go for the super cute ones? After who knows how long of Geordi having to spend his friday nights either in engineering or drowning his frustrations with whatever concoctions Guinan's got at her bar, I say go after the most desirable girls he can find. 'Cause if he managed to do well with at least one of them, that would more than make up for all the past months/years of misery he's had untill now. :bolian:

And if he REALLY is despressed....I'd walk up to him and say, "Things coud be worse....look at Barcley!" :p

Geordi and Sonya would have made a cute couple, I think.
No. Sorry. Still eeew....

About as cute as a Sisko/Ezri Dax or Chakotay/Kes pairing.

Too much of a teacher/student vibe and I think that's why the LaForge/Gomez thing didn't actually work, IMO...

As weird as that sounds, it would still be preferable to Kes/Neelix... not that that's saying much. :scream:
