Who would make a great new Captain for Discovery?

Lord Garth

Admiral
Admiral
EDIT: The title should read "Who would make a great new Captain for Discovery?"

Only Rule: Can't use current characters in the series.
Only Other Rule: They don't have to be Star Trek characters. ;)

I think John Shaft would make for a good Captain of Discovery. "They say that kat Shaft is a bad mutha--" "Shut yo mouth!" "I'm just talkin' about Shaft!" "Then we can dig it!"

David Attenborough with the Queen as his Number One. They might be a tad old but they are such a delight together. Actually that should be the Queen as Captain and David can be Number One.

Captain Mario
Adopted brother and apprentice of the Vulcan Plumber to the Federation, L'uigi (There's only a few toilets in the Federation, so they just need two plumbers)

Allies:
Princess Peach "Tilly" Toadstool of the Mushroom Kingdom
Yoshigrade (Mario can use him to access and ride across the Mushroom Sewer Network)
Lt. Toad (accesses the Mushroom Network, gives Mario extra lives when he dies)

Enemies:
Wario (Mario's Mirror Universe counterpart)
Donkey Klingong (eventually breaks his programming and becomes a good guy)
Kling K'oopa

Michael Keaton. Not as a character, as Michael Keaton, star of "Batman."

I have a feeling they're going to hit it out of the park with the new captain. I don't know why...but I have a really good feeling about this one.

Shouldn't the new Captain have been cast by now?

They are shooting the first episodes, IIRC, so they almost certainly have been. Though it's entirely possible that whatever happens with Pike and the Enterprise takes up the first two episodes of the season, which means the new Captain might not appear till the third episode.

Donald Francis "Don" Draper aka Dick Whitman.

Peggy Olson, the mature version who swaggered her way into McCann. I'll never forget her walking in with the cigarette and that painting. She could fit the Discovery aesthetic to a T.

Jon Hamm is captain material for real, but he's probably too similar to Jason Isaacs.
