I'm torn bc I'm always been a Spock/Chapel shipper and now THIS T'Pring is just so awesome. We shall see...

Spock is a lucky SOB this episode. He's got two brilliant, amazing women into him and a ridiculously charismatic villain flirting with him (and giving him useful life advice in between murder attempts!). He's probably in some pain from realizing he's got feelings for Christine and is gonna have to hurt either her or T'Pring though.

Maybe no shipping. That is overrated. Altho Spock/Christine actually has teeth now. I was never a fan of the character in TOS.

The most interesting would be MBenga and Hemmer but I am not sure I want to see it.
We kind of got to see this combo this week, season 1 episode 8, or at least the origins of their ship. I think that they worked out quite well as a ‘ship’ partnership. They even woke up with a hangover together with lost memories…

We also indirectly got to see Una and Ortega.

I just had a thought: Why are "Pike and Number One" and "Pike and Una" two separate choices in this poll?

Also, was it intentional that all of the La'an choices say "La'an 'an [name]"? ;)

Because in episode one ‘Strange New World’s’, Una went missing on a first contact mission. Pike gave another crew member the title of ‘Nunber One’ in the interim in her absence. This means that the title is interchangeable between crew members and the ‘Number One’ of ‘The Cage’ is not necessarily the ‘Number One’ of Strange New World’s… or even ‘Commander Riker’. Therefore they/Number One can not be considered as the same ‘ship’ in terms of voting.

Your other query is a secret… for now! :D

If it helps: this T'Pring is the same T'Pring who will one day make him fight his best friend to the death...and after we see in this episode just how easy it can be to break an engagement in Vulcan society.

Maybe it's only easy to do if you do it before your intended is in the middle of pon farr. Maybe once you let it get that far, you are stuck.

Ooh, I said the same thing! They (he) let it go too far and under those specific circumstances the only way to divorce is through ritual combat.

I wonder if the “property” line from T’Pau applied only during the pon farr and T’Pring could have divorced him later. At this point they’re not married. They’re courting and deciding if they’re compatible as adults. I’m glad that their families are a little more enlightened than those of Koss and T’Pol, who saw each other a grand total of four times between the time they were engaged as children and their doomed marriage ceremony. There must have been some changes in customs in 100 years.

I never really understood shipping.

So, no one...

Edit : I expected Picard and Beverley to get together in TNG, Riker and Troi too. Does that count ?

I’ve always watched shows like this for characters and their relationships with each other and usually have a preferred ending for the story I’m watching. Starship models and technical manuals that fascinated my dad, who introduced me to Star Trek as a kid, leave me completely cold. As I recall, I did want Riker and Troi be together when I watched The Next Generation and I was glad to see them and their daughter in Picard. With this show, it’s a little harder to do if they don’t make any changes to the timeline. We know what happens to these characters for the most part, which is why I am imagining a different ending.

I only ship what I see on screen (I'm not sure that's even shipping) and I'm happy for the creators of shows to tell the stories of the characters they want to tell. I want to be entertained. (That being said, after reading an article about the ST2009 onscreen relationship between Spock and Uhura - how it was inspired in part by a cut scene from Elaan of Troyius where Uhura and Spock are questionably flirty with each other over the Vulcan lyre - I was inspired to write a little fanfiction of my own about them.)

I remember Buffy the Vampire fandom being very fractious about Angel vs Spike vs Xander. (Probably apocryphal, but supposedly the Twilight author was so upset about Angel becoming a bad boyfriend on account of losing his soul she went off and wrote a whole series about sparkly vampires in high school - and created what to me was the ultimate controlling bad boyfriend).

Mostly though,I have never been attached to pairings, only how a relationship affected a character's arc. And this current love triangle is ripe and juicy.

Sam Kirk and the Enterprise. Imagine the story possibilities when Jim realizes he’s falling for his brother’s ex.

And I like them both, although I don't 'ship ships. ;)
