There was a good documentary I saw a few years ago. It basically said, iirc, that while a Canadian airman was credited with the kill, it was probably a New Zealand soldier on the ground who got off a single, lucky shot. Something like that.

Yes, the doco DID say Aussie infantryman Cedric Popkin instead of air ace Roy Brown, but it is disputed.
