I left twice. The first time is because I forgot to plug in my modium or whatever the side machine to the computer was called on desktop computers for 3 years and that isn't a joke. It really happened. Then I was gone for another 8 to 10 years because I couldn't afford internet or that we even had a computer to use.

It was called a modem. Or rather, it still is. Only nowadays it's built into the computer so you needn't plug it in yourself anymore.
Not having money is a pretty common evil, I think. I'm glad things have improved for you. Welcome back and don't stay away that long again. There's always room here for one nice poster more.

Just out of curiosity, what is the forum's official stance when it comes to what I guess technically is a "sockpuppet" account?

My previous ID hasn't been logged in with since 2013 but during the last several months of that time, my attitude had soured quite a bit and there was friction with one of the moderators.

I was hoping to have a fresh new start with none of the baggage from my previous experiences colouring people's opinion of me on the forums. It didn't occur to me then that it may be viewed as sockpuppetting as I'd abandoned my old ID but now I thought it would be best to check and go from there depending on the input of forum staff.

Having more than one account is against the rules.

No duals. If I catch you with a dual, I will shut the dual, and either warn you or toss you off of the board, depending upon the circumstances. A dual means having more than one account.

You might want to reach out privately to T'Bonz. People who have been away for a while often forget their old account or password, and create a new one, so this kind of thing has happened before. I'm only a forum mod, so it is probably best to discuss any concerns in this area with an admin.

I was much more active when my kids were very little. When my health took a bad turn, I stepped away and focused more on real life. I dropped in occasionally, but this is the longest I've hung out in a while. It's nice.

I still have boxes in the States that need to be brought over. I'm not sure we'll have any room left by the time they get here!
