Who else left and came back?

I've pretty much been a regular poster since I first joined in the spring of 2001 but I did take an extended break from the board after I lost my Mom in 2008. For months afterwards I barely visited and my posting practically stopped during that period.

I joined around the same time that cooleddie did, but left for awhile about 3 years ago, to help care for my granddaughter who was born 3 months early. I then spent more time here, but lately I find so many threads that just devolve into bickering and squabbles, so I have been visiting here less often.

^I joined about the same time as you but left in the big troll hysteria. Returned only a few years ago to rejoin a group of old friends (and make tons of new ones :)) but haven't been posting much lately due to dad having been seriousely ill, myself having health probs (which finally turned out to simply be undiagnosed diabetes) and being very busy IRL with both my job and voluntary work as a refugee helper. In what's left of my time I am hosting and tech-admining 5 small-ish but very friendly boards. Being the daughter of an internet pioneer it sorta runs in the electrone flux... err... the blood, I mean. :D

This is a nice thread! So many names from way back when. It's a little like a family reunion, only that those usually are triggered by a funeral.

It took a long time after I registered for me to become a regular; I only logged in after I watched Trekkies or something else got me enthused about connecting with other fans. Then I discovered the caption contests, which at that point were really popular -- active on all the boards, even in the Trek lit board -- and they got me coming by regularly, just to see what people were coming up with.

So....I haven't left for good since I arrived, but before the caption contests I only visited like a tourist.

I was much more active when my kids were very little. When my health took a bad turn, I stepped away and focused more on real life. I dropped in occasionally, but this is the longest I've hung out in a while. It's nice.

Over my nearly 17 years here - I've disappeared for a few months over that time when I had some personal issues around a decade ago or when I was moving and didn't have internet at that place for a few months. Now it's pretty stable.

I pop in and out as the mood strikes. Whenever I do a rewatch of the completed shows I post a bit more than otherwise. Sometimes I go months without even visiting here, at other times I visit, if not post, daily. At some point I will watch Discovery, but haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

I left twice. The first time is because I forgot to plug in my modium or whatever the side machine to the computer was called on desktop computers for 3 years and that isn't a joke. It really happened. Then I was gone for another 8 to 10 years because I couldn't afford internet or that we even had a computer to use.

I left several years ago when I discovered that all I was doing here was being a dick to people in TNZ. I also had, what I considered to be, an altercation in TNZ with a poster I liked and respected. So, I took a vacation... one month became two became a year, became more. I'm back now, but only sparingly. Some of you I remember vividly. Others, I have no clue...

I'm an old man with too many responsibilities IRL to spend large chunks of time posting here, to say nothing of just being a jerk in TNZ.

Jesus. Supposedly Jesus left and came back.
And left. And will be back.

Oh yeah, Ahnuld said that too.

Admiral Buzzkill had to die, that Serveaux might live.

So when you say you were being a dick I assume that means you were working as a private eye, solving cases that members of the TNZ would bring to you.

I was a member several years ago, with a long-since-forgotten email address and password. I left due to homophobic hatemongering by a few people I don't even remember the names of now.

To be fair that Admiral Buzzkill dude had used a shovel to kill a guy so the change had to be made.

You're Dennis??

I joined 9 years ago when I was in the US. Returned to India and posted sporadically. Became a bit more active when I was in grad school here in India. Now I'm again sporadic unless there's a long break from work or vacation, such as the just past week.
