I didn't like them eating meat from hunting, especially cute little bunnys.

I mean it has been referenced in Star Trek as still on going to some degree, but it seems kind of outlandish for the 24th Century.

I hope you were joking. Since Thad is basically J.R.R. Tolkien, that's like saying people cosplaying as LotR characters are guilty of cultural appropriation.
It's really only cultural appropriation when it offends the people being appropriated which is impossible when said culture does not actually exist.
