The Dark Knight Returns Batman.

Haven't experienced much Batman comics though. I've only just started Year One today, which so far I'm enjoying.

#1: The 1960s TV series and feature film starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
#2: The 1989 movie starring Michael Keaton

The Dark Knight & Batman: Dead End. I like The Dark Knight, and by association Batman Begins because they not only took the source material seriously, but did well at grounding the character and the world he lives in. It was nice to see something like that. I like Batman: Dead End's take because it also took the source material seriously, but with the look and feel of a live-action Alex Ross piece.

Special mention goes out to the 1989 Batman.

The comics Bats will always be the real deal, particularly "Bat-Dick" from the 90s/00s. I like Batman as a paranoid angry infallible authority. After that, the Bats from JLU who was similarly dickish and perfect. I wouldn't count the original 90s toon; I just re watched all those episodes on DVD and they didn't live up to memory.

Film version: Chris Nolen Batman franchise
Animated version: I'm sorry, but I gotta go with "The Batman". I still don't get the facination with Batman:TAS. It may have been good for early '90s animation, but I don't think it holds up that well.

Cartoon series - Easily Batman - The Animated Series (85 episodes and two movies (Mask Of The Phantasm and Mr Freeze - Subzero) that started in 1992

Movies - Tim Burtons' 'Batman' and 'Batman Returns', the music and the set and designs are great. Don't give a crap if the Joker kills Bruce's parents in the movie or not. Joe Chill is such a stupid name anyway.

Also enjoy 'Batman Begins' and the over hyped 'The Dark Knight', I think Mark Hamill's Joker is the best. Also I think Gotham City could look more like Burton's, otherwise, the Gotham City in these two movies are just regular cities. So much for escapism. I vote Johnny Depp as the Riddler in the next Batman film

Oh my gosh, my opinion, but the animation in The Batman is crap, are the animators lazy? The Joker in The Batman especially was crap. Batman The Animated Series has the best animated Joker and Mark Hamill as the Joker is excellent.

So far, I think "Batman Begins" is my favorite, and "Dark Knight" is a close second.

Never really liked any of the TV shows or other films all that much.

Admit Adam West is best, or die like the rest. :klingon:

1. Adam West
2. Micheal "weirder as Bruce Wayne" Keaton
3. TAS Batman (Conroy, though I got to like him less and less as he progressed from the Batman/Superman hour to Justice League...)
4. Bale "mumbly" Batman
5. Olan Soule "oldman" Superfriends Batman.

To hell with the rest. (I haven't seen the new cartoon, though).

Michael Keaton is a good Bruce Wayne and even better Batman

Kevin Conroy is good as Bruce and Batman as well

Christian Bale is a good Bruce, but his Batman is not good, his voice is the problem, maybe it will improve in the next Batman film

Comics: O'Neil/Adams The Darknight Detective. Not the Goddamn Batman or Ninja Batman, but not Campy/silly either.

Movies: Christian Bale Only Movie Batman worth a damn.

Animated: BTAS Kevin Conroy.

My idea of Batman is somewhere between the Batman: The Animated Series version, the comics incarnation of the latter 90s and early 2000s (after KnightsEnd but before War Drums), and the original 1930s-very early 1940s Dark Knight. I don't know that I would reliably choose one of these over the others. For the moment, I'll say the late 90s-early 2000s Batman.

I pretty much have to agree entirely with your choices there. About exactly what I'd have said. I'd add a mention for the Englehart/Rogers incarnation of Batman in the comics (really pretty much the same interpretation as the O'Neil/Adams version, and a pretty close equivalent to the BTAS incarnation).

And yet: I do have a certain fondness for Adam West, I must admit... as a kid, Adam West was Batman to me, and that's all there is to it.
