What are some good space & ocean-based TV shows?

I’m quite enjoying Nautilus on Prime as I have a soft spot for all things Jules Verne. As you may guess, it’s a 20,000 Leagues/Captain Nemo story. But best not to get too attached - it was commissioned by Disney but they opted not to air or renew it and seem to have offloaded it to Amazon. It’s quite old-fashioned, would’ve felt old-fashioned in the 1990s, but the cast and period setting are appealing. I’m not surprised it hasn’t been a hit, as I imagine that Verne adaptations aren’t really hit material anymore. But if you like that sort of thing, as I do, it’s enjoyable.

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
This has to be the most schizophrenic show of all time. I'll admit I've only seen a few episodes, but those few episodes ranged from serious, mature Cold War espionage stories to ridiculous stuff with aliens (in mandatory silver suits) and pirate ghosts that felt like it was written for 7 year olds. There's nothing wrong with writing for that audience, but it's pretty weird to swing so far between.

And then they got kicked out because Eve wouldn't let some powerful white guy dictate her life for her.

Did I get that right?
I guess, the two did some gardening... you know, to the nearest garden center, buying mulch, roses... okay, they shouldn't have spent their money on the apple, but what do I know?

No, it's a spoiler what I wrote! :D

But perhaps a couple of trailer will do the job!

And the official music video!

Tremendous remake/reimagining of the original material. Still waiting for 2205 with English subtitles.

Is that the new show with Shazad Latiff? It looks like fun, I'm hoping it'll come to the US eventually.

It's a stereotype that Americans take a nude body very seriously (Rated R) but will then find a movie with graphic violence totally acceptable.
It's not a stereotype, it's a truth. Generally speaking, a lot of conservative Americans see the naked body and sexuality as something that's between husband and wife. Sometimes, between boyfriend and girlfriend regarding those who just do not want to wait until marriage. Nudity can also be a patient-doctor thing or a parent-and-baby (as in like a diaper change or bubble bath) thing.

No one watches graphic violence and immediately wants to go do it, therefore this is considered a non-issue. Someone might watch a nude or sex scene and then want to get perverted ideas. Do you understand the difference?
Where in the Bible is nudity prohibited? I'm sure there's some passage in there--just curious.
I don't know that the Bible prohibits nudity specifically, but the Bible does have a lot to say on sexual sin, and seeing a naked person can immediately lead to sexual sin. Does that make sense?

(Minute 1:10)

And I mean, America was founded by a bunch of Puritans who had no problem killing natives to take their lands. Prudism and a love of violence are the foundation of this nation.
The video is trash, and why are you lying about American history? America was founded by COLONISTS who rebelled against England and got tired of outrageous taxes and rule from across the ocean. Get your facts straight. They were not cold-blooded murderers. Native Americans did not "own" land, therefore it cannot be stolen if it is not owned to begin with. Watching a violent movie does not mean one loves violence. It means one loves the story of what the characters endure and survive. Does that make sense?

Please, crack a history book before you trash talk my great nation that is the United States of America. Thank you.

So, you're saying God didn't give you the tools to control yourself?

Please, crack a history book before you trash talk my great nation that is the United States of America. Thank you.

You need to open a God-damned history book, because I don't believe God would want you to be ignorant of your past. Do Small Pox and the Trail of Tears ring a fucking bell?
