Jeans and yellow sneakers? I will be preparing a rant in twelve parts forthwith about how this violates canon, continuity, Gene's Vision and all that stuff. Also expect a YouTube video in which I express my disillusionment with the direction the franchise is taking while listening to REM's Losing My Religion. Because seeing jeans and yellow sneakers with a Starfleet uniform make me feel as though I have lost my religion. Disgraceful.

;)
We also now have an idea when the command division switched to red as a colour! Plus, it seems Starfleet was under some pretty hardcore budget cuts. The Captain's chair is made of cardboard! Maybe the fans who want the shows to look more like TOS are getting their wish!

My issues with the Captain's Chair will be dealt with in another YouTube video. Specifically, a particular video I'm currently in the middle of producing in which I examine the evolution of Captain's Chairs across the franchise's epochs and my opinions on them. Basically, I'll be praising the brilliant chairs seen in 1966-2005 and slamming all chairs seen since as the garbage they are, obvious exception being the Titan A's brilliant chair in Picard season 3, because Terry Be Praised!

I'll need to add on a portion to my video to include this chair, but as a preview, while I applaud the decision to return to TOS production values, this chair is too similar to Disco's and is therefore representative to how the franchise has become party to Kurtzman's filth, at which point I will segue into a desire for Legacy to get the greenlight because Terry Be Praised!

;)

Yet another series idea I doubt anyone would go for… Remember the Transport/Tug from the old Tech Manual, swapping out different types of modules for different types of cargo, passengers, etc, yet still a significantly-sized Starfleet ship? I like the idea of a series following something like that: a big Starfleet ship whose main mission is bringing different types of big important cargoes and passenger/colonist groups across the Federation, getting drawn in to drama relevant to them, fighting off raiders trying to pirate them, getting into trouble at the loading ports and the destination worlds, etc. Ships like this are probably the backbone of Federation commerce. You could combine “South Sea freighter adventure in space” stories with traditional Starfleet drama.

Star Trek meets Firefly meets Shipping Wars.

25th Century Trek with a fresh ship and crew, no callbacks, no familiar faces. Start fresh where TNG / Picard left off and move forward into the undiscovered country.
This is my vote.

Stop eating your own tail. Star Wars has gone this route I'd say almost fatally, Trek has heavily gone that route but can recover.

And be HOPEFUL again. TOS was created against the backdrop of the end of WW2 and possibly cold war. It could strike a positive future. Not everything has to be a deep insight into our current issues.

Darn You Nick Meyer Dept.: Dammit, Nick, in Shakespeare “the undiscovered country” is death, not the hopeful future! You even knew that, when it was your original title for the Khan movie! Now nobody remembers!!

Okay, my approach to Legacy, if that must be a thing . Spread it out. Make it a modern TV show with multiple settings/POVs. And I say this as a fan of SNW's episodic approach. Get the "nepos" off the Enterprise and spread them out.

Put Raffi out in the field doing her Starfleet intelligence thing. Making her Seven's XO isn't a good move

Jack needs to go back to the Mariposas so he can be the cocky rule breaker who skirts authority. Team him up with Picard's other "son" Elnor for a mismatched duo thing.

Put some characters on a space station. Since it's about "legacy", make it DS9. But not the scruffy DS9 of the 24th Century. It's now the shiny central hub for commerce and travel between the Gamma and Alpha Quadrants and a "Mecca" for people who follow the Prophets.

Yeah, Legacy can't just be SNW in the 25th century, so it'll need to be a bit spicier and maybe open-world.

I can't imagine the budget on that though.

Where's the petition for THIS version of Legacy? 😍

Put Soji with the Mariposas, allowing her to interact with surrogate siblings Jack and Elnor; she could be their comms officer. Sydney can join the Mariposas in a later season.

Then Seven will have to interact with the background characters (Mura, Esmar, Dr. Ohk), characters that otherwise would not matter that much.

It would be a bottle show, set on the Eleos, the Ent-G and whatever world Raffi is visiting for the season.

Raffi would have La Sirena & planet of the season.

Jack would be Eleos bridge & whatever alien ships (ex. the Shrike) they encounter.

Seven would have the Ent-G (bridge, sickbay, crew quarters, briefing room) & whatever space stations the Ent-G encounters (ex Daytrsom Station, DS9, etc).

Plus holocomms would allow them all to communicate with each other.

It's a lot of set redressing that would have to be done.

I thought that's what Star Trek did and what made it the inspiration for so many was how it addressed current issues?

*tongue in cheek.

Unfortunately, Star Trek as just being an optimistic future out and exploring was lost the moment we got "Let that Be Your Last Battlefield" and "A Private Little War."

Plus the drug PSA.

I feel any Picard follow up should be semi-serialized. Being too episodic doesn't work for me

In terms of alien races, I think one or two could come back, preferably Berman-era species, but they need to develop some new species too. They need someone like Spock/Data/Worf/Quark/Odo/Kira to elaborate on the new aliens. And please, for the love of ST, don't make them just another forehead ridge. That's done to death

This is why I find this particular forum so fascinating - what actually is the Future of Trek now? I'm not sure any of us have a clue. Only a couple of years ago, "nuTrek" was going great guns - it felt like we'd have a constant stream of new content. I'd have said Captain Seven was a shoe-in. It felt they were going for all-year-round ST. Now it feels really different. Is Academy and the half hour comedy really it with the occasional movie thrown in?

My guess is what happens next depends totally on how S31 performs - because that movie is the test of whether or not the one-off format performs well enough. If it performs - expect more movies with different one-off stories and/or sequels (I suspect Legacy might be a shoe-in for that). If it doesn't - thats that door closed.

My personal view is that SNW is going to end with S4. I just have this nasty feeling about it. My personal take would be that Legacy or similar should replace it - essentially something that takes the post TNG era forward. The TOS-ish era is done to death, but the 25th century has so much potential and the TNG era is where so much of the fanbase started it feels like more should be done with it.

Something which fits in with the existing continuity.

If you want something else, that's great -- go make a new show. Seth MacFarlane did this with Orville and I love it and wish we had more.

There was no need for

Another request -- I want at least 20 "hour long" (40 minutes) episodes a year. Not every episodes needs to have every character, but it needs to fit in the same universe and feature crossovers.

another request -- cut the budget. I don't want fancy effects, nor do I want stupid flamethrowers. I want stories. Think about the great stories of Trek and how few effects there are.

In the pale moonlight. Generic explosion over an existing model

Inner light - very few effects, some setwork on a set I assume existed elsewhere

measure of a man - pretty much a courtroom, a data arm which they had in storage, I'm not saying don't have any effects

on a similar theme - the drumhead. They used a chair from home depot I believe.

disaster - again all on the ship, few flashing lights. You don't need effects for Worf to say "you may now give birth"
