Which races would you have liked to see more of in Star Trek?

It would perhaps have been nice to learn more about the history of the quadrant, about ancient races such as the Iconians (*) and the T'Kon empire, what happened between 'then' and 'now' or even further back in time. Would have placed the Trek Universe in a larger perspective. After all, most races in the Federation may be quite young when compared to how long such races may have had an interstellar presence, even those such as the Vulcans. Much like pondering how our ancestors were hunter-gatherers for hundreds of thousands of years puts our own history consisting of only a few thousands years in a different perspective.

(*Though there may be such material in the Trek novels, I don't read those, TV series and movies are the only things I take into consideration),

I feel like novels and other media have made the Iconians somewhat legendary so any onscreen reveal would disappoint, same for the Breen if they ever made a proper reveal of them.

BTW did the Federation ever take an Iconian gate to study?

Whatever Arex is. I really wish one of the Kelvin movies would have realised Arex or whatever one of Arex’s species is.

If Kelvin 4 happens one day, and I’m still optimistic that eventually it will, I hope they get around not having Chekhov by having Arex instead, TAS style.

A female Tellarite, we haven't seen one yet, only males.

On the other hand, maybe we have? For all we know, female Tellarites could be visually indistinguishable from male Tellarites to non-Tellarite eyes.

Or maybe Tellarites don't even have male and female sexes or gender identities. Maybe their sexuality exists along an entirely different paradigm.

Given how central vulcans are it would be nice to know more about everyday life on Vulcan. I'll take a docuseries on the cultural anthropology of vulcans, please!

Others I'm interested in are medusans, and the critters from Conspiracy.

Speaking of which did they use the props for those critters in B5? Very similar aliens popped up on that show.

Nope, Starfleet had to destroy both Iconian gateways seen in canon for the franchise status quo to progress.

If Section 31 or anyone has procured an intact sample, it has yet to be shown (in canon).

It's not canon but given the stuff we know now from Picard I'd love to think Section 31 has at least one
