I think it was just a matter of time, he just didn't get to them yet. Had Voyager not found them I have no doubt he would have killed all but oneMy guess is that the initial environment must have been pleasant but after the clown appeared he reprogrammed it to suit his needs. I am just surprised that with his murderous tendencies the clown had been able to refrain from killing them all but one.
Honestly don't recall that episode at all. And I thought i'd watched all of them
but his part is actually not very important in itThat's too bad. It's one of the better ones. No thanks to Harry Kim though.
but his part is actually not very important in it
if I had to choose between the two I would keep Kim, but I really don't like KesTrue, but he doesn't play it very well. I am among those who think that they should have kept Kes and lost him.

Much like comedy and laughter, fear and intimidation works better on a group. My guess is that the initial environment must have been pleasant but after the clown appeared he reprogrammed it to suit his needs. I don't know. He seemed to understand how fear works pretty well. And he had a pretty decent sense of what might increase and decrease the chances of his own survival.
Shrinking the group isn't as dangerous as outright eliminating it.Well, maximizing his chances for survival would have meant keeping everyone alive. You never know who's gonna live the longest, yet when Voyager found him, he had already killed two people. If he really knew how fear works he would have scared those two into cooperation instead of killing them. Also he was quick to wanting to kill Kim who just got there and was prevented only by one of the guys remark.

But that clown was the personification of fear. Is fear smart or rational? No.
I might go for "Living Witness"
Funny story...I just started dating someone who likes DS9 and has never seen Voyager and durring conversation the plot of Threshold came up. He didn't believe that the lizard thing was an actual episode and insisted on watching it. Well after we watched it, he then wanted to go back and watch the whole show. So Threshold did get a DS9 fan to want to watch Voyager! You may want to avoid Threshold as it may test the threshold of your tolerance for bullshit though.
Like, allergic to water!! Wtf!
