Without giving away too much, the new Picard tie-in novel "The Last Best Hope" does have a scene between Picard/Beverly that kind of explains her absence. There is a lot of subtext in the scene that suggests it was probably the last time they talked.

She is in charge of Starfleet Medical (again).

Edit: this was in regard to Dr. Crusher, since the thread was originally specifically about her.

It was sad, not least because it emphasizes how much Picard gave up. As for Beverly, well, I strongly suspect she has not been waiting for him.

"Hopefully"? Sounds like you have a little too much zeal there.
I never liked her character simply because they never developed the character. If Picard had a flashback to her getting killed or vaporized it would have explained his reluctance to go back to space even better.

I want to know what makes you think she was a weak character? I always thought she was incredibly strong willed and had a great personality, not afraid to stand up for her morals. Either way though I certainly wouldn’t wish her dead....
She was never flushed out as a character like Worf was. Probably because Michael Dorn is a superior actor.

She never got the same detail as Worf because it was only in the second part of TNG that she began to get episodes focused upon her. Too, Worf had special importance as a viewpoint character for the Klingons; at most, Crusher could speak for her homeworld. When Gates McFadden got good material, she was good.

Diana Muldaur as Pulaski was way more interesting. She should return and give Picard a hard time!
While Pulaski was interesting, I just think they were trying to hard to make her seem likeable, and the sudden change from crusher to her didn’t really give fans time to transition either. Maybe if they wrote Pulaski into the show better and she stayed longer, I would have a different opinion, but I don’t think her and Picard’s relationship was ever close enough to warrant her going to him and giving him a hard time.

Hello there,

I've just seen the "Where is Beverly?"-thread minutes ago and yes, this is a good question, especially, because they used another Doctor for some scenes, that also could have been handled by Gates McFadden. But then again, I remember the first time, I've seen Admiral Clancy in a trailer and thought (for just a few seconds), that it would be Kathryn Janeway.

While they made up a whole "Picard against the admirality"-scenario in PIC, let's not forget, that there should be some other Admirals, who stand for the same values like JL. And I know, that there are some (valid) discussions about Janeway and her moral integrity, but all in all, she can be seen as a positively connoted character. So, the familiar interaction between Kathryn and JL in Nemesis in my mind, I asked myself: Why didn't Picard talk to her?

Of course, there are some obvious scenarios, that would explain this (maybe she's dead), but I would love it, if they let Seven mention her. Not because I want a Kate-Mulgrew-appearence or because I'm interested in the charakter, but because for me, it is an urgent question to understand the situation "between PIC and the admirality".

What do you think?

Greetings,
gvn

Admiral Janeway is in a Star Fleet Prison...

Probably in a years long Starfleet Admirals briefing somewhere on how to say "Sheer fucking hubris!" to best effect...
