Where oh where are the Klingons

Amazing we get this question asked every couple months but back during the first two seasons everyone's attitude was that expressed in the Star Trek XII bit on that old Simpsons episode. "Again with the Klingons."

Exactly this.

Couple of years ago, fans were boohoohooing that Klingons were involved again, and the same backlash that happened during TMP because of they looked and acted. Yes Trekkies, all of this has happened before and all of this will happen again.
And now, suddenly everyone wants Klingons....

The Klingons declared war on dilithium after the burn, believing dilithium to have purposely self exploded in a declaration of war. They all went to the dilithium mines of Rura Penthe and have been hacking at the crystal remains there with bat'leths for the past 100 years. Now that the Burn has been fixed, Admiral Vance and President Rillak just don't have the heart to tell the Klingons the "Great Dilithium Hunt" is pointless.

They lost their ridges again, shaved their beards, and have been the main race keeping the Federation together since Earth quit. Vance, Willa, Kovich, all of them are Klingons. They just didn't think it was worth mentioning.

Actually I hope that when we do get to see the Klingons again they will be almost unrecognisable, in behavior not in makeup this time. I'll be disappointed if they've kept that 'warrior race' thing going for all these centuries instead of evolving, especially if they were in the Federation.

It's almost like there might be a middle ground between centering a season's story arc around them and not mentioning them at all during a galactic event.

I don't really care to see Klingons in Modern trek. We've had enough in them throughout all the series and films. I want to see a Cardassian with a prominent role or better yet, a new alien that doesn't possess the typical humanoid primate like physiology. I loved the trance worms and that creature in the episode All Is Possible for that exact reason.

They already have been a part of Discovery. Zero reason to have them now.

I’m not against an appearance in the 32nd Century setting Discovery’s in now, but ‪‪‪‪I agree, they’ve been huge in Disco already, it isn’t something they need, or given us any indication that their reappearance is some kind of inevitability. We’ll be just fine if they don’t appear in Disco again.

I don't think there's any appetite within the writing staff to go near The Klingons.

Speculating on their current status in the 32nd century: not every power will endure indefinitely - we know that from our own history. A key feature of any empire is it falls. That's not to say The Klingon species is extinct, however - if you consider Ezri's take in DS9's Tacking Into The Wind - it's not a stretch to imagine The Empire dying off long before The Burn. In the grander scheme of this era, perhaps they're just not worth mentioning.

Yeah by the 32nd century they might have decayed into a bunch of hicks living in their own ruins on a handful of planets.

Edit: I meant the 32nd century, not the 23rd haha
