Where have the black badges gone?

I think those side effects were happening when they were still ironing out the various bugs of the DASH drive and doing their little "mini-jumps." Now that they have a biological interface to navigate...those side effects have vanished.

Ditto on this. Seemed like a bit of an SG-1 thing where the stargate stopped freezing people as soon as they figured out how to work the thing properly.

I hope the black badge seen at the start of the series was a place-keeper, foreshadowing some long game story arc they are winding their way back to continuing.

I also understood them to be a side-effect of the DASH drive - but was wondering why we weren’t still seeing effects like this, with successive jumps - but as you’ve mentioned, probably just in the initial trials of the DASH drive being used.

Makes sense!

All the crew assigned Black badges went to Lorca and said: "Badges? We don' need no stinkin' Badges!" and since Stamets and Burnham got the Spore Drive operational and EVERYONE and his brother on the ship knew about it; Lorca agreed. ;)

A yellow alert is exactly like a yellow traffic light. It warns you that it’s about to change to red so you can slow down (or more likely increase speed to cross the junction without the red stopping you.)

Also really doubt it's Section31. I mean, how dumb are you as a supersecret organisation, if you actually have the Starfleet symbol in a different color on your chest??

But yeah, marines or special ops makes the most sense I guess.

What is the Cannon origin story for Section-31? If it has not been fully given, it could have formed from an organization that was not secret but later officially disbanded for some reason. Only they just changed their name to Section-31 and resumed doing covert ops.

Enterprise already established that S31 existed before the Federation. So, Discovery can't be the origins of S31
