Where did the show go wrong?

Difference between Geordi and Paris is that an interest in "writing" holonovels was an actual character trait of Tom's throughout the series. It's totally what he would be doing as an old man. His holonovels are probably really terrible, but very popular

What was Geordi writing? TNG technical manuals?

And Tuvok going nuts is like the natural conclusion for him. He's got all these buried anger issues. He's had all sorts of brain damage, and he's mind melded 10- too many times, with too many strange species.

Picard didn't actually go nuts. He was genuinely hopping through time. It was more a device so that his friends wouldn't believe him, to add a little conflict.
I think you make some excellent points, though technically Picard was diagnosed with Irrumodic (sp?) syndrome, which was taken to explain the time travel thing. Only further in was discovered what was actually happening.

But, one point I did want to address that I liked about Endgame. The conclusions of many of the characters felt very natural from where they had been in the show. AGT was OK, but some felt a bit forced. I think the conflict between Worf and Riker probably stood out to me the most.

Weird to think about for me, but I see your point of view.

Good idea. This sounds like the shades of grey type of characters we see regularly on TV now, which makes for much interesting TV viewing if you ask me. It seems like during the time shows like- Voyager aired, the characters were simply good or bad. No in-betweens or reasons for why a good character may do something shady for a good reason, just good or evil.

The way it looks on the show is that at first she was over eager to get home (with the crew) and didn't care about rules or the Prime Directive, but after she left the ship she became a basic villain. By the time they did the holodeck program, she was outright evil.

It's these kinds of elements I thought fell flat on Voyager because I want to invest and root for a character, especially a female character, who doesn't have it all figured out. Voyager had some great performers who I believe displayed performances in way so they could attract the writers to explore their characters more; for me they were giving a lot more in their performances than the crappy scripts given. The actors understood the premise more than the producers and the terrible writers.

From your idea, I wonder if they should have kept Seska on the show for a few years-let us see her point of view- and then reveal she was a Cardassian agent. The shock value would have been great. But then that leaves the Kazon out. And they needed a classic villain too much too. It would still have been a cool idea.

I still wished they had an episode where they had one big heated debate between the Maquis crew and the Starfleet crew. Everything the other shows didn't bring up they could have aired out there.

It didn't have to end in violence or be divisive, but it would have been interesting to hear everyone's views on it, even an outsider like Neelix who's been friendly with both sides.

How about we only find out she was a traitor at the very end?

JANEWAY: Mister Paris, what's our position?
PARIS: Right where we expect it to be.
SEVEN: The transwarp network has been obliterated, Captain.
JANEWAY: We'll celebrate later. Mister Tuvok?
(Tuvok fires a torpedo, and the Sphere explodes from the inside out.)
JANEWAY: We did it.
SESKA: Computer, execute command XJL.
<while everywhere on the bridge stuff goes kaboom, Seska is seen being transported away>
CHAKOTAY: Computer, override transport in progress.
COMPUTER: Unable to comply. Security lockout is in place.
JANEWAY: Computer, identify destination of transport.
COMPUTER: The destination of the transport is unknown.
KIM: Captain, you're not gonna believe this, but in the last milliseconds before the circuits were scrambled, a massive download took place, including all data we gathered in the Delta Quadrant over the last seven years ....presumably from the location Seska beamed over to ....but everything is so thoroughly scrambled it will take hours to reconstruct our sensor readings to find out where she beamt to and by that time, she will be long out of our reach ....
JANEWAY: Eurm .... I don't want to spoil the festivities of our homecoming party with news of a little inconveniently timed breach of security like that. We'll worry about the ramifications tomorrow or next week. Any damage we have is simply due to a rough ride through the transwarp hub ride and collateral damage from Borg sphere blowing up. Did you notice anything else going on, ensign Kim?
KIM: Not at all, Ma'am.

Lol:lol: People would be livid. FURIOUS! They'd have had 7 years for Seska to grow on them. It'd be like the reaction to "These Are The Voyages" exponentially magnified

I still think the reaction would not have been as bad as "THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." simply because at least it would still be about someone who actually was a part of the show, not from another spinoff that ended years ago.
