What TV shows do you miss?

Sagart

Fleet Captain

I'm not talking about shows that came and went in the blink of an eye, like 'Firefly' but long running shows that you loved and wish were still around, if the casts could remain and the writing stayed above par.

For me, I'm gonna go with DS9 and The West Wing.

I know you didn't want to tak about short shows BUT

The shows I miss the most are the ones that didn't get a proper conclusion cause if the story is finished then its easier to not miss it so much so with that in mind...

INVASION
THE 4400
JERICHO (that cud change hopefully)
LAS VEGAS (NBC that was just mean, the main writer only needed 1 more ep)
ENTERPRISE
ANGEL (though I do love the ending)
TRU CALLING
FIREFLY

Enterprise
Tour of Duty
Boomtown

I would've liked to see The X-Files continue with Doggett and Reyes (but having Scully around sans Mulder didn't help).

I'm currently rewatching Farscape for the umpteenth time and godsdamn I miss this series so much. It's still burns me up we didn't get a fifth season. It still gets to me largely because it was initially promised and because it was planned to be the final season, so the series was heading towards a conclusion. But don't get me wrong, I'm very, very happy we got The Peacekeeper Wars.

Babylon 5 and Farscape are two that spring to mind immediately. B5 may have had a wonderfully satisfactory conclusion but every time I rewatch it I want more. Farscape gets me the same way - what we got was great, but more would be better. :D

I also miss the ER that was - compelling viewing with some of the best characters on TV, as opposed to the present dreariness. I miss As Time Goes By because it's wonderfully funny with brilliant characters and acting. I miss Six Feet Under - I recently rewatched it and it's even better than I remembered.

That's a short list.

Frasier. I was never really one for sitcoms; but I loved that show to pieces. I still love it to peices. TV humour hasn't been the same since that radio psychatrist broadcast his final show.

DS9 is the only one I'd say I really miss and I sometimes wish there had been more of. I was very happy with the conclusion but I think there was still so much left to be explored.

I always thought it would've been interesting if B5 got a couple more years. As divinely layered as Season 4 was, both wars could've used more time.

Enterprise should've been given at least another year. Sure, the first two seasons were bland as hell, but the last two were pretty great, especially with Manny Coto at the helm. Had the show started with Season 3, it would probably still be on today.

Other stuff... Firefly, of course, but that's an obvious pick around here. Angel is another one. For more obscure fare, I wish Mission Hill had lasted longer as it was one of the best animated comedies I've ever seen. Clone High also fits into that mold; Duckman slightly less so, but also worth noting.

I miss Deadwood. The characters were fascinating--beautiful and horrible at the same time. There were still a lot of stories there to tell.

I miss Jonathan Creek because the character was so likable; plus, the mysteries were awesome.

I miss Boomtown (OK, a short show), because the scripts were so damn good and the character of David McNorris was incredible to watch.

Part of me will always miss Magnum, PI because that show provided me not only with my first crush, but gave me a real male role model, (since my own Dad was a such a jerk). Of course, it ended 20 years ago, and some of the cast have passed away, but it was a HUGE part of my childhood.

Frasier. I was never really one for sitcoms; but I loved that show to pieces. I still love it to peices. TV humour hasn't been the same since that radio psychatrist broadcast his final show.

I don't know; I think Frasier had a good run and pulled out on a high note. There were rough patches starting to show up in the later seasons as it was; I loved the show too, but wouldn't have wanted to see it become one of those shows that just goes on and on until you wish it would die.

The only show I miss, though, is also a comedy: Mystery Science Theater 3000. Started hilarious, stayed hilarious and finished hilarious. There will never be a shortage of shitty movies, and MST3K could have gone on forever. The existence of both RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic proves that. But they're not the same; I want Crow, Servo and Mike/Joel!

Well, I wouldn't necessarily have had these continue (maybe some, but others were on long enough), but I do miss watching new ones each week:

Northern Exposure
X-Files (Pre Dogget & Reyes)
Remington Steele
Deadwood
Carnivale
Cheers
Brisco County, Jr.
Twin Peaks
Arrested Development
Spaced
Pretender
Alien Nation

I haven't watched a lot of TV series on TV (I've mostly seen things on DVD at this point), but I miss being able to watch new episodes of Star Trek (whatever incarnation it may be).

So, there it is.

I'm quite fond of the X-Files, but I just saw that recently, and, well, there's a new movie coming out very soon to keep me happy.

Enterprise should've been given at least another year. Sure, the first two seasons were bland as hell, but the last two were pretty great, especially with Manny Coto at the helm. Had the show started with Season 3, it would probably still be on today.

The first two seasons of Enterprise were like two more seasons of Voyager, so UPN had nine straight years of bland, uninspired, safe, vanilla Star Trek.

Makes you wonder -- if Enterprise had come first, we'd have seven bad years of that, two bad years of Voyager, and then two good years of Voyager before the plug was pulled.

Miracles and Jericho. Clearly, Skeet is the kiss of death.

Invasion and ENT. Axed just when they were getting good.

Surface. I miss Nimrod. :(

Carnivale.
I never did figure out what the frak was going on, but it sure was purty.

Farscape
and DS9. I miss them, but I can't honestly say I felt cheated. They both had good runs.

Firefly.
The biggest example of wasted potential ever.

Star Trek: Enterprise
Angel
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Dead Like Me
Firefly

^-- Those are all the shows that have ended that I think there should have been at least a season more of.
