What Specifically Do You Hope to See in Picard Continuity-Wise?

I was just going to say that I want to see Commander Sela...but I guess not everyone feels the same.

It's just if we are going to be dealing with the Romulans...she is definately a loose thread.

I'm okay with seeing Sela again. She was part of TNG's history so that's fine with me. It would be strange to not have her on, or mentioned, at some point if the Romulans are factoring majorly into the Picard series. I wouldn't mind seeing Donatra or T'Rul again either. And for me, it would be great to see Saavik, and get her being half-Romulan made canon.

They can do almost anything continuity wise. They don't have the constraints of being a prequel. The funny thing is that based on the footage I've seen from this show, the technology doesn't seem to be all that different from the Discovery era. It just comes off like generic sci-fi with some Star Trek elements.

Suspension of disbelief will be of... paramount importance? DISCO looks more like a 25th century version anyway but then they decided at the 11th hour with the 12th cup of coffee thanks to 13 pints of cheap liquor and 1 failed "Truth or Dare" question to turn it into a prequel and that's when the misfires and problems truly began. IMHO, YMMV.

This would be a great opportunity for Sela... especially given the hackneyed dialogue she was saddled with in TNG. Her creation is pretty darn cool for sci-fi in general (not just Trek), but then they waste her with lamentable secondhand material, culminating with the sheer misfire of "Unification", of which also was tepidly received from numerous disappointed viewers at the time (Usenet must have a lorryload of complaints) and has arguably dated worse than any given season one episode, including perhaps "Angel One', "The Naked Now" and "Code of Honor". You bet that her return, done right, would be a fitting and deserved home run for her character.

I just want something that fixes what Nemesis did. Bring back Data because that was the obvious plan and don't suck.

As for what should be included based on my last rewatch of TNG.... Just give little hints to where everyone ended up via cameos or conversation. I'd like to see Worf partly to see what they do with the makeup, but also because he is the only DS9 link I expect to see.

Nor should they.

I don't care much for NEM but it happened. It's canon. The propensity among some fans in certain franchises to want to retcon and ignore previous films or episodes can be obnoxious.

I suspect if they planned to do in-continuity follow-up stuff like Picard from the get-go, Discovery wouldn't have been quite the unofficial reboot it was.

Personally I'm cool with them doing direct sequels to older stuff concurrent to their quasi-rebooted 23rd century adventures.

I think it should be noted that the showrunner of Star Trek: Lower Decks has already said they plan to work in as many references to earlier series as possible. And the animated nature of the show - along with it taking place only a year after Nemesis - really means it makes a lot more sense as a series to bring us up to speed on what's going on with old established fan favorites.
