Hmm, don't recall that, I may be behind in my info on Picard. In the novelverse he will never advance beyond Captain.
But I know my hope is a hopeless one. As much as I would love that I don't think anyone can expect the showrunners to be beholden to the novels---and I'm sure the comic book readers would love to see the comics preserved---so which would they choose anyway.
It can be done of course. But it won't happen.
