What small but overly indulgent thing would you like to own?

I'd love to have a key lime tree.
And - at the risk of being greedy - I'd also love to have one of these awesome shrubs I saw in LA and never learned the name of: they have rather leathery oval leaves the size of a big olive, 3/4 inch long thorns (iirc in pairs and slightly curved) and tiny white flowers with a lovely scent =) They flower in fall/winter and the fruit are blackish/purplish berries.

A rocketpack..

It was a special car in a game I used to play -- hell, still play while I'm listening to podcasts -- called Mafia. They're slow to accelerate and a little clumsy to maneuver, but boy are they gorgeous..

I had that game a while back but ragequit after the first car chase where you had to avoid getting caught. I play with keyboard/mouse so the car handled like shit that way. I just can't use controllers.

I ended up living vicariously through youtubes watching gameplay.

Hey, I've been using a keyboard and mouse to do car chases in that game for fourteen years! :p I almost never play that first mission because it's seriously tedious, but whenever I'm doing a re-play I find it's helpful to try to manipulate the pursuers into crashing into poles. Did you ever try Mafia 2? The cars are faster and more responsive there.

I know it's a car.. but I'd looooove a fully modded DeLorean. I'd totally drive it to the most mundane of places, like doing the groceries.

And some schmuck tries to steal it from the parking lot.

Hope you install a burglar alarm. Actually that car alarm from Robocop would be good.

How do you avoid the first mission? Won't that halt progress?

I haven't tried Mafia 2. The 3rd one seems to be shit.

BTW some of those cut scenes really were corny.

Once the missions are complete you can go back and play them again, as many of them are quite fun. There's quite a bit to discover in re-plays. For instance, in one mission I accidentally discovered that if the player (1) shoots a gas lamp and then (2) shoots the floor where the lamp falls, that area is engulfed with flame -- including the guy with a Thompson hiding back there!

Mafia 2 lacks freeride, trolleys, el-lines, and likable characters, but there are a couple of aspects of it I wish were in Mafia. For instance, the ability to ditch the cops by changing clothing, and the fact that gangster security guards confront you if you have a gun around them. In Mafia 1's freeride, I can shoot gangsters all day for money and those passing by won't even blink. Weapons are handled better, too...players can maintain their own cache instead of being stuck with whatever Vincenzo hands out. I prefer the 1930s atmosphere, though.

I was hoping to play Mafia 3, but the PC reviews aren't good. :(

I played 3 on console and it's kind of shitty. So the PC port probably isn't much better by comparison, and yes bad reviews.
