what show did you start watching star trek

Late 70s TOS syndication, I'm guessing 1977 or so. We didn't have cable but my dad could squeeze a dozen extra channels, sometimes with poor reception with his technical skills. I wasn't a "Trekkie" yet, but I do recall not having control of the TV at that age (being the youngest) and so I would get "voted" down when I wanted to watch it.

Later on I found my oldest sister watching TOS at midnight showings after she came home from work. I started to do the same when I got my first 13" TV in my room. It was actually during Saturday, late afternoon double rerun showings that I remember having a "revelation" about how good the show was, and I became obsessed. Soon after I saw my first ST movie in the theater, Star Trek III. I started buying memorabilia. The rest is history.

I was aware of the old Star Trek and had watched (at least bits of) the first four movies. However, it was when my brother & I rented out the VHS of "Encounter At Farpoint" in late 1989/early 1990 (the show wouldn't be on TV until September 1990 here in the UK) that I became hooked.

TNG was the Trek I fell in love with at the tender age of 9. When BBC2 started showing the series, and Marvel came out with their TNG comic (reprinting DC stories and Starlog mission reports/interviews), I was an unabashed fan.

TNG. I was about 7, back when it was shown on BBC 2 on wednesday nights in the 80's, but it was when my parents got Sky in the early nineties and they started repeating it, showing an episode twice a day that I really got hooked.

I watched a little DS9 when it came out but got a little bored and stopped, then watched Voyager which my teenaged mind convinced me was better than it was and got me back into Trek enough to re-watch Ds9 which I then fell in love with, with it becoming my favourite Trek. If not for voyager I'd not have gone back to it.

I'm not quite clear on whether it was TNG or TOS, but TNG seems more likely.

As for my age, I must've been... five? Maybe?

I watched TOS reruns with my dad as a little kid. From before I was aware enough to know what TV was. Really raised with it. TNG came out when I was 7 and I enjoyed that. Stayed with it throughout its run. I was very excited for DS9 and Voyager, but wasn't impressed with either and didn't watch them regularly (though in the last decade or so, I've gotten to really appreciate DS9... Still have missed a lot of Voyager.)

I first started watching DS9 and Voyager scenes and started watching whole episodes, consistently, when I was 7 in their mid-fifth and -third seasons.

I watched Wrath of Khan with my dad, i was 3 :D,he used to watch Original series but i only liked spock.
After a few years i saw Voyager and fell in love at the age of 7,been watching Trek ever since.
It was a sad day when i saw JJ's movies, ruined my childhood.

I started with 12, TNG. Then continued with the TOS movies. Watched TOS after that, followed by Voyager and DS9. Never got into Enterprise, though.

TOS in syndication in the 70's.

I consider myself a TNG/VOY-era fan, though, as that's when I went off the rails....

TOS and TOS movies when I was a toddler in the 80s. TOS is still the one I love the most. It's been a cherished companion through thick and thin.

I first became aware of Trek during its '70s rerun heyday, when I was in my single digits, but didn't watch it then. The first Trek installment that I purposefully watched with attention was TMP on cable when I was 10 or 11. I started slowly developing an interest in TOS and the other early films when I was in my teens, and got into it whole-hog at about age 15, when TNG was just a couple of years around the corner.

I was about 7, and the first episode I can recall seeing was Balance of Terror. TOS ran in syndication in the early 70's on WKBG (later WLVI) channel 56 in Boston, and WJAR channel 10 in Providence.

I was born in 1966, and my father watched some TOS episodes during their original broadcast run on NBC, it was possible that I was in the room for some of those, but I can't remember anything back earlier than about age 4 or so, which was in 1970.

Early TOS syndication. I vaguely remember seeing one or two glimpses of first run episodes when I was 4'ish. But they confused and scared me at the time. I few years later I fell in love with them through a mix of syndication and TAS on Saturday mornings. Encouraged by some older cousins with cool Trek toys.

My first Trek memories take place in the early 90s, I'm born in 1982 and must've been around 10 years old when I watched TNG for the first time. (that I can vaguely remember)

My obsession became more real in the late 90s when I started to get VHS tapes of TNG around 15 or 16 (?) years old.

TOS when I was 3-5 years old. There wasn't much else on in the early '70s, until Space:1999 came along.
