What should the last trek be like?

borgomatic

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
I know its almost an unthinkable thing to consider; but what would you want to see for the last trek? If Paramount decided it was time to end the franchise. They gave the opportunity to have a proper goodbye(it could be in the form of the ending of a series or a movie). What would be on your wishlist?

Have the Romulans travel back in time 4.5 billion years and mess up with the primordial soup on Earth preventing life from forming.

Introduce a new cunning enemy, more cunning than the Dominion and more evil than the Borg. And make three horror movies based on them.

Create a story situated 4 billion years into the future when the Sun's life is near its end, the Federation doesn't exist anymore, and you can't recognize any of the original species anymore. Depict them as hopeless and failing in everything.

Intergalactic invasion by non-humanoid ugly aliens.

The Federation discovers technologies allowing them to have the powers of the members of the Q continuum. A war between the Federation and the Q continuum destroying both sides begins.

Or... A Sith lord comes from the Star Wars galaxy and corrupts the Federation?

It all depends which era we're in.

But I'd say you couldn't go wrong with the cast of the then-current show, whatever it is, in old-age makeup, present at the launch of a new starship Enterprise. The stories will go on, even if we're not going to be seeing them.

Whatever it is, it would need an effective blend of the most successful styles and themes of the better shows and films in order to have the highest likelihood of being accepted by the fans.

That sentence was sort of odd.

DS9 ended with Jake Sisko staring out a window, saying nothing, and the camera floating away into the infinity of space, accompanied by a slow playing of the main theme. If that had been the grand finale of Star Trek forever, I would have been satisfied.

Bring an end to the Federation, rename it or whatever and send it beyond all present discovered galaxies. because they have now discovered a new type of warp drive which makes space travel almost instant. They then go on a mission of inter-galactic peace discovering new life forms and 'To boldly go.....'

Let's be honest there is no real way to bring ST to a real end. The only way is to stop making series and movies, because you can always create a sequel even if it turns out to be a load of crap. They know that the die hards such as us will watch and buy!:vulcan:

This is GREAT!
Do I have to pick one? :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

The last season should be an alternate reality alongside the real one where nothing matters and everything ends up in purgatory.

It was done so well before.

No time travel in Star Wars, so that's out. But wait, what if time actually runs in an infinite loop, so that Star Wars' "long long time ago" will eventually run into Star Trek's future? Hmmm...

Star Trek will never end. Even if Paamount should decide to dump it, Star trek will still continue in books, fanfiction and on different websites. Sooner or later some other company will see the great potential, buy the rights from Paramount and make something new out of it.

I'm always wondering about the end of Star Trek, by which I mean that they're not making new series or films. I like reading some fanfiction every once in a while, and actually have some books here, but for me those books never come to life as do the movies and series. (maybe because I'm 27 and born in the era of TV instead of books, who will say?)

To be honest, I'm looking forward for a new tvshow (yes I am, I have a dream) and can't handle thinking about the end!!

But if it would, let's just go to Starfleet Heaven and see all the dead Captains talking about their lives or something, and watching over their crews (except for Siski, since he is a worm hole alien and never dies, and doesnt go to Starfleet heaven...)

Semi-heretical as this suggestion may be, I'm not sure I have much desire to see the Prime Universe extend beyond the Trek XI future-story. How much more is there really to see out there?

That said, I'm willing to explore any number of pre-XI stories outside of those we've seen... a show about civilians, Starfleet Academy, Klingons, etc. Also, bring on the alternate realities... Mirror Universes, Borg-infested nightmares a ala "Parallels", etc.

Then there's my dream series: all the five or six major races evolved on separate continents on an M-class planet, and through tall sailing ships, they start interacting... like TNG crossed with Warcraft.

I'm 25 and love the books. To each their own I guess...

As for how star trek ends... The universe dies, the stars all go out. All matter collapses into a single point in space and time, causing another big bang and spawning a new universe of wonders. Someone, whatever character that is still alive and considered to be closest to "The Explorer" perhaps, says as the credits roll:

"This has all been done before, and will be done again. A new reality is born, waiting for those Enterprising Voyagers to 'Boldly go where no one has gone before.'"

Ok, so it's really cheesy. But sometimes cheese can be good, I like aged sharp cheddar the best personally.

Well I'm 21 and I think I might have read more books than I've seen movies :guffaw:

Not bad at all!
