I really will never understand the animosity towards Endgame (I named it!) For lovers of VOY, it's absolutely chock-full of wonderful stuff, with the exception of C/7.
Anyway, I too am so pleased to see VOY getting more of the recognition it deserves!
No, The Episode that Must Never be Named was not chocked full of good stuff.
The woman who could have had Q just "blip" Voyager home decides instead to wreak havoc with the timeline to get it done.
The whole "getting home" should have been earned by the crew that put so much work into getting as close as they were for 7 years. It should have been a final story arc at the end of the season, not a one shot "poof". ESPECIALLY not a one shot "poof" that caused so many problems and broke so many rules.
How totally unrealistic was that final scene? Voyager didn't exactly have a "by the book" crew. They finally get earth in the viewscreen and everyone just sits calmly at their duty stations. No excitement, no chatter, no cheers from the crew. No hugs, no dancing... They just sit there. Not even gigantic smiles. It was like everyone was suddenly thinking "My god, can you imagine what my refridgerator is going to look like after seven years? Man, I don't want to deal with that."
That episode just oozed lazy, careless, and even ill-spirited writing. Everyone was portrayed out of character. It was just horrid.
The concept as Sci-Fi wasn't bad. But as an ending to Voyager, it was horrible. If it had come directly after Caretaker, it would have been an acceptable ending to the show, but not after 7 years of the show. Bad, BAD finale.
