Because Kes is not discussed and written about so much as other Voyager characters, I don't have a reliable source on what is the popularity of parings involving Kes. So I decided to ask you that question.

I listed only pairings that are canon (or at lest teased in canon) or/and I found any fanfiction with said pairing.

None of them, really. Neelix creeped me out with his paternalistic attitude, and I'm really sorry we didn't get to see a scene where Kes finally told him to get lost, just a random mention at some point that they were no longer an item.

I quite like Kes/Tom Paris, but I like Tom/B'Elanna even more. I guess I'm happy with what we got, the Kes/Paris relationship in the alternate timeline. I'd also be happy with a Kes/Tom/B'Elanna triad, but I doubt B'Elanna would be willing to share.

I think match anyone up with Janeway and it's great chemistry but I always saw a Mother and Daughter relationship between Janeway and Kes. That conversation they had at the end of The Gift and Janeway gets emotional is like saying goodbye to your child as he/she is about to get married and move away. It was emotional, and it's one of the reason why I like both characters.

I also think of Kes and Janeway as mather - daughter relationship. But i know they're people who ship them.

I myself like Tom/Kes mostly. And, for F/F paring, I think Kes/B'Elanna is the best option. I generally like them interacting, whatever as freinds or a couple. They're such opposites and their few canon interactions are nice (like that one scene in "LErning Curve" in sickbay, thje dinner in "Real Life" and my favorite, the scene in engineering in "Persistance of vision" where Kes helkp B'Elanna stand up after the alien is defeated by Kes).

Kes/Tom/B'Elanna triad, I think, would be a good idea for a MU Voyager.

I like Kes/Janeway as daughter/mother, and Kes/Doctor as a student/mentor relationship but in both directions. Kes/Neelix I have no problem with but it just wasn't interesting. Kes/Tom felt more like he just wanted to hit on her and stir up shit with Neelix, although them both being medical people would have been a good in for a proper relationship or just friendship. I think I prefer just strong friendships between characters over romantic relationships. I think Seven/Chakotay had the makings of a really good friendship, with his Borg experience in "Unity" and both being outsiders of sorts. I always compare it to Odo/Kira. Harry/B'Elanna could have had a fun dynamic. Kes/Seven would have been interesting as like two sides of the same coin. Chakotay/Tom could have been really spicy for a season or so.

Kes and whichever Ocampan she'd have ended up with if Voyager, the Kazon, and Neelix had never arrived on that planet. I find Kes utterly boring and can't imagine saddling any other onscreen character with her.

Probably my favorite interactions Kes has are with the Doctor, but it's hard for me to view that relationship as romantic vs. paternal. I guess I like Tom/Kes insofar as it got under Neelix's skin...

It's been a good long while since I've watched VOY, but I remember never really pairing Kes with anyone due to how indifferent I felt towards the character. Especially not Neelix, it creeped me out quite a bit when they actually tried to go down that road. I remember THAT, at least.

If we're talking romantic pairings, my only answer is "none at all". Like many, I can't really get past the human tendency to associate "two years old" with sippy cups and teddy bears.
I don't mind Kes's young chronological age since it's clear she is a fully capable grown adult of her species (though I totally understand not being able to get past it). It does make me imagine the reverse situation -- an extremely long-lived alien species that doesn't reach maturity until the age of, say, 100 solemnly debating the ethics of a relationship with a human who's only a measly 30 or 40 years old.

Yes, I also imaging similar situations. In a way, the Vulcans are like that(althought sometimes I doubt Vulcans even care. But that;'s another thing).

As for Kes, I also don't mind her chronological age.

Kes/London Suder.

Both work with Tuvok to develop lost mental powers. Both like gardens. Kes likes "exciting" men, as seen with Neelix, Paris and that guy from "Darkling." Suder is the dangerous temptation Kes needs; and a wholesome, innocent lover with a tragically short lifespan is the angst Suder needs.

And of course, both left the show far too soon.

Indeed, that's a good point. Given that a member of this race might be wearing pigtails and playing with dollies at age 30, dating a human would require some mental adjustment.

In any case, Neelix, Tom, and Harry are all honorable men. I don't see any of them exploiting Kes (or Linnis).

I'm going with "none at all" too. I've said it several times, the whole premise of the Kes character was terribly flawed and pairing her with Neelix was a horrible idea as it just screams exploitation of a minor.

Honestly, I think Voyager really missed an opportunity with its premise. It should have gotten rid of more characters besides Kes and replaced them with better ones, as they did by replacing Kes with Seven. I would have axed Chakotay and Kim for being dead weight and Neelix too for being terribly irritating.

I like most of the Kes's premise, as she is a good representation of star Trek values (curiority, compassion, determination) while also having power similar to Force - sensitivty that allows her to be used by more "Star Wars" than "Star Trek" storylines (like "Field of Fire" or "Persistance of Vision"). Having said that, her short lifespan and "one child" are thinjgs that are most dfinitely flaws.

As someone known for being Kim's advocate, I might surprise you with this, but... yeah, eliminating him and Chakotay isn't a bad thought. Given that the showrunners flatly refused to develop them, the show wouldn't have lost much. And TOS, TNG, and ENT all did fine with seven main characters.

I'd keep Neelix, though.

Honestly, some fanfiction (I especially mean old fanfiction written during original Voy run) does better job at developing Kim than the canon series).

That's what we fanfic writers are for - fixing things that canon broke, developing characters canon ignored, explaining throwaway remarks that canon didn't have the time to go into... etc etc. And we do it all for free ;)
