And since one of the mods expressly created said topic for me so I wouldn't drag the topic into every other forum here, I'll return to the subject of Kes pairings. I don't like getting admonished by moderators, but I really hate it when I know the moderator is right...
Ironically, the character closest to Kes chronologically was the Doctor, effective age at activation being 0. And, the two spent lots of time together, and she was essential in the early part of his character journey. But, that might not have flown because he looked a lot older than Kes. And the other similarly aged character was Seven (physically 24, but only 6 years of life experiences), but the producers weren't ready for that.
