Consequence of TMP jumpsuits, they were extremely restrictive, IIRC, George Takei stated that "It took the assitance of two people just to get out of them"
Likewise as they were so skin tight, you probably wouldn't be able to wear underwear with the jumpsuits, thus as a result, in male cast members cases, their genitals would be bunched up against the material, creating embarassing scenes like the one posted
However, late in the film Stephen Collins (Decker) gets a two piece constume like the rest of the senior staff

Oh my. I thought this was going to be some sort of "did you see the thingy they put on the wall" or "look at the visual effects goof" thread. I had no idea it was going to be a peepee post. 
And no matter how many times I see this scene my eyes always go to the same place, Collin's wonky right eye. I swear it looks like he is trying to see the end of his nose.

They should have sewn in unnoticeable cups or little baggies or something.
...You know, if they got rid of that silly biometer device on the stomach, added some color to the insignia as on the epaulets on the shoulders, and let the sleeves end more abruptly, TNG style, it wouldn't be as bad. Collins may have needed to work on his skinny legs a bit more but...the uniform isn't that bad. You just have to keep looking at it for 20 years.
All that uniform needed was a proper support undergarment. I know those uniforms were later modified and reused as the enlisted uniforms for TWOK...
I couldn't agree more. I understand the idea... form fitting means streamlined and nothing to snag. But this is just ridiculous.
^ Nothing to snag? I guess they were so busy worrying about snagging stuff on the outside they forgot the stuff they would snag on the inside.
But I have to agree. The TMP uniforms are horrible. The unitard is salvageable but I believe the two piece has possibilities if they were made from different materials and colors. A dark charcoal grey or navy gabardine would completely changed the style and look from pajamas to work suit. I would also add an undershirt similar to Spock's, box the sleeve cuffs and change the belt monitor to something with a lower profile. And the "burlap" used for the EV coats has to go.
