What if the Federation joined the Dominion?

The Dominion will continue to improve as well. They are big enough to send a large expeditionary force and still carry out a large R&D effort.

Probably. But it seems they haven't done so at a pace equal to that of the Federation, in those thousands of years in their past, or they would've been far more advanced by now. Either because it simply wasn't necessary, or because the autocratic structure of the Dominion still somehow stifles the pace of innovation.

In a way, wasn't this answered in "The Search, Part 2"?

From the Dominion's perspective, the simulation probes how the characters would react to an agreement between the Federation and Dominion which gave the Dominion influence in the Alpha Quadrant.

And the results show how that would be untenable and there would be significant resistance which would not just go along with things because Federation officials ok'ed it.

That's, like, the absolute worst kind of fan fic.
Definitely not since those stories shows an interest in prevailing and restoring good characters who have been destroyed for no reason at all, such as Kes, Garak, Gowron, Carey etc.

No, it's horrible and childish.

And, while I have no clue what happened to the Voyager characters, Garak and Gowron most certainly were not "destroyed."

And that's exactly the mentality that leads to bad fan fic. (aka all fan fic.).

I don't agree that all fanfic is bad. Licensed novels are a form of fanfic, and I find many of them quite good.

I do have some issue with writing that directly attacks decisions made by other writers, though.

OTOH, deciding that TATV wasn't exactly an accurate representation of events kind of worked for me. But I'd call that an exception to the rule.

Kes, Garak and Gowron were destroyed and I have already come up with solutions how to sade Kes and Gowron. I'm still working on Garak and Carey.

And doing that is not "horrible and childish".

On hte contary, it shows that I do care about certain characters and that I'm not a sheep who just accept all character destruction and other crap which are forced upon us by stupid producers and stupid writers who exists in a dystopian era and are affected by that.
