What if Neelix was less of a goofball?

I heard Sam kept pulling Neelix's whiskers and he couldn't stand it.

...
Hey why didn't we see a touching scene of Naomi talking to her dad when they had their skype calls?

Yeah, you'd think a man who hasn't seen his daughter would say something having the chance.

I wonder if Admiral Janeway actually came up with her plan because she had killed Mark and had to get out of town fast.

I think they are a charming couple!

It's certainly a possible that she was on the skids and running from johnny law.

[2404 - San Francisco - Admiral Janeway's Apartment - night](Voyager swoops over San Francisco amid fireworks)
NEWSREADER [OC]: These should be familiar images to everyone who remembers the USS Voyager's triumphant return to Earth after twenty three years in the Delta quadrant. Voyager captivated the hearts and minds of people throughout the Federation, so it seems fitting that on this, the tenth anniversary of their return, we take a moment to recall the sacrifices made by the crew. Corruption charges were brought today against a Ferengi
JANEWAY: Computer, end display.

Chekov's gun says that in one draft of Endgame at one point before it was rewritten that Janeway was involved in that corruption... So either she did something bad with the Ferengi and ran to the past, or something bad the Ferengi did was necessary to her mission into the past.

She can do better than Mark. And she knows it, that's why she fucked over the timeline to save 7.

It's not like they could be together, Chuckles beat her to it.

She was just letting 7 practice on him. In the books 7 dumps him and Janeway and 7 lay around in bed laughing about how stuffy he was.
This must be in the books that you're writing, when are they going to give you a deal?

I've been reminded how different Neelix was in "Caretaker".

He's really like a rogue in that. He plays the crew for his own ends.

Compare that to the cartoon character he evolved into.

YES, that's how Neelix should have been throughout the series. Keep the boisterous kind of annoying exterior, but have him do things like manipulate the crew into rescuing his girlfriend then destroy the water they were trading.

SF Debris' opinionated reviews would be slightly less entertaining without the stupid Neelix moment. Just for that, it's worth it that he's a shithead.

In 'Drive', Neelix taking control of announcing the race was one of Neelix's shining moments and his goofballity worked in that scene.

I'm watching Voyager all the way through for the 2nd time now. Right now, I'm about halfway through the 2nd season. What I don't get is why the hardasses among the Command Staff (Janeway, Tuvok, Chakotay, Torres) tolerate Neelix's obnoxious behavior at all. They're basically taking him along out of the kindness of their heart and he's basically just a pain in their asses. Noone ever puts him in his place, much lessbanishes him from the bridge or off the Command Staff. To begin with, it doesn't make sense that Janeway would allow him to ride along after he endangered her and her crew for his own selfish interests the very first time they met.

Janeway REALLY misses her dog.

As soon as they were outside the areas of space he had any useful knowledge of, it should have been Hasta la vista, Neelix.

If Mollie had come along with Janeway, ala Porthos with Archer, Neelix could have been her chew toy.

exactly-he was supposed to be more like Quark, but they ended up taking him more into the goofy type. Except for when he's a jealous psycho dealing with Tom Paris.
