What If: Captain Riker of the USS Voyager

At warp 10 age isn't even a number. You and Kate will do fine.

I am wee bit jealous though.. I wish I could make lizard babies with Kate :adore:

I think I need to take some more "medicine" and watch another TOS episode. Maybe "Spectre of the Gun" again, though I watched it twice yesterday. It's my favorite of the third season. I was reading Wiki articles about the OK Corral participants last night too.

I think The Cloud Minders is pretty trippy.

It's weird how the third season has a bad rep when it has so many great episodes. All Our Yesterdays, :weep:

I remember going mental when I was allowed to see War Games in 1983.

Which just confirmed that computers are not helpful.

They are insane maniacs waiting to strike!

I pretty much figured that out the first time I saw Colossus.

Well I just assumed JRulez that while you may have been meh about ONE 7 the overwhelming yumminess of FOUR 7's converted you. I mean, because you were counting, heh.

Nahhhh.

IIRC the triplets were slutty redheads with none of the Grace Kelly allure of the original prototype. ;)

I opted for "Way to Eden" again because I was too lazy to change disks. And it's probably a good thing I wasn't able to get remastereds for Season 3, since it helps me see another reason the new effects don't wow me.

The new cgi doesn't have the dreamy quality of some of the original Enterprise beauty shots. Softer shadows, ice cream colored planets. The cgi doesn't have the right amount of fake film grain to match the live action shots that well either. This is somewhat noticeable on a 1992 tube television. The sharpness and more "realistic" cgi renders are too influenced by post-1960s standards of effects work.

JRulez. I'm wondering now how many original 7's it would take to woo you? What is your tipping point?

Which was the point of them, cleaning up looks that are seen as too flash gordon vintage.

I have the unremastered on video ann the remastered on dvd. I like the Vulcan scene very much, the direct TAS connection. Otherwise it's like Star Wars to me, so saturated was I in the originals that every single remastered tidbit stands out like alien balls.

Some of the remastereds of seasons 1 & 2 I can handle, because we do see a few new ships and battle scenes that screamed for a glimpse of an enemy ship. But that's as far I'll compliment the project. ENT: In a Mirror, Darkly did the Defiant exteriors much better. Cinematically, that is, not the choreography.

And in the What If department, What if the B'Elanna of the what if Voyager was full Klingon? Or the wimpy full human Torres?

What if they were never put back together but survived after "Faces" and we had both of them walking around?

I Hearby offer myself to The Thread for:

The Making of Janeway Lizard Babies

Acolyte for Feeding by the ThreadEldrers, and

"Norton, Return to the Thread"...(cue Howard Shore "Norton" theme music)

...for the life of me, I found this thread compelling and enjoyable...

...did it seem a little Sinefeld-esque, however?...stream on consciousness?...

...before I go, an attempt to actually address the Thread topic:

If Riker had been in command of Voyager, an entirely new cast would have been needed...there would have been none of the Janeway chemistry, flouncing, or camera angles from lower left to upper right, to show off that scrumptious jawline...

...Nooooorrrrttttoooonnnnn...come back...

Ok, Melakon and Teacake...I am ready...do I get a robe or jumpsuit or Velcro jacket or something for the Sacrifice...???

...please take care of my Family, and get a message to Gates regarding our time in Rio...please tell her it was the best I ever had...except, of course, for the one time with the Arcturian Ambassador...

Live Long and Prosper
Resistance is Futile

Melakon, prepare the lubricant. We're going in.

Norton you need to pay attention, HIjol is making a huge sacrifice here. God knows how much child support will be required, what with the heat lamps and all.

How far was Chaotica "allowed" to go with his seduction of the Spider Queen?

The program was broken, so he might have exceeded PG 13.

If Chaotica kissed her, wouldn't it have been a comparable flavour and tactile sensation to when O'Sullivan kisses her?

Could Tom have been such a dick as to program some of the Holograms to have Halitosis, dodgy technique or too much tongue?

If The Killing Game had continued for another month, if it had been a four parter before Kim got his shit together and saved the day... The Hirogen would have started their new Game: The Battle of Wolf 359.

The collected new players would have been...

Full cast of the the Next generation.

Afro Sisko as third officer on the Saratoga with his dying wife and baby Jake.

Oh, and Riley Fraizer from Voy: Unity was "kidnapped" during The Battle of Wolf 359... Oh? Are we positive that Jennifer Sisko died and wasn't taken back to the Delta Quadrant and she was hiding in the background during that Voyager episode?

Or, is Jennifer Sisko a Drone, which means that in Endgame when Janeway destroyed all the Borg, it is then that Janeway killed Jennifer and not Picard 10 years earlier.

In any-case either Holographic rapey HoloRiker would have been grazing against the boobs of the Voyager cast members... Unless one of the Hirogen decided to play the part of Riker, but how authentically would that portrayal of William T Riker have been?

After the Hirogen lost, Janeway could have decided to keep that particular Hirogen, and brainwash him into believing that he was Riker on an ongoing basis, and sadly for Chakotay, the dupe who thinks that he a full commander outranks the Indian.

Hmmm.

Similar to what they did with Conner Trineer on Stargate Atlantis.

Let's see.. swagger. Barking. Leering. Hirogen wouldn't have to work hard to get into the role.

Just because fate is a fickle #####, I think that every Starship ever commissioned after the discoveriy of Time travel has had a full stock of Nazi era Uniforms for at least half their crew vacuum sealed in storage below deck. It's the most horrible place where they can happen to be trapped, in early 1940s Germany, so why not be ready and prepared for it? Yes sure they have replicators, but #### it, like the replicators are guaranteed to still be working as their flaming star ship is hurtling towards the Reichstag and the German War machine is cocking a million rifles wondering "What the hell is that?"

Can you imagine a regularily scheduled "Timelost in Nazi Germany" Emergency Drill?

Where everyone has to man battlestations while changing into period dress?

Who'd be in charge of that?

Neelix or Tuvok?

Maybe they were half way through one of these drills which the Hirogen attacked in between Retrospect and the Killing Game?

:)

Imagine Riker as captain for three or four years. And then they finally make contact with the Alpha Quadrant. Who appears on-screen?

...William Riker!

The camera pans back to our captain on the bridge, who reaches up and peels off his sideburns, revealing himself to be the Maquis renegade Thomas Riker all along!!

Yep, Voyager was definitely better of without Riker.
