What happened after Voyager returned home?

I'm not that fond of the relaunch books. Too many good characters are missing and I can't get any interest in those new ones.
But they did at least bring back Janeway who had been killed off in some book. I was afraid that they were going to waste her too.
Fortunately I have the season 1-3 Voyager books which I really love! :)

Janeway - Promoted to the admiralty and initially placed in charge of a new unit of Starfleet Science reviewing and sorting through all the data Voyager collected, gave quite a few speeches across the Federation about her experiences, taught a class or two at the Academy, before moving into a position at Starfleet Command.

Chakotay - Returned to the former DMZ where he defused rising tensions among the refugees in the region and restored some resemblance of peace and order to the region, ultimately becoming a spokesperson for those who remained in the area and sought autonomy from the Federation.

Tuvok - Returned to Vulcan to be cured and spend time with his family, then took a teaching post at the Academy. After eighteen months back in the AQ he was selected to become the First Officer onboard the newly refitted and repaired U.S.S. Voyager for her historic mission to the Gamma Quadrant.

Paris - Settled on Earth, where he reconnected with his father and became a test pilot for the S.C.E. trialling out new ship or engine designs, wanting to be close to his family. He would remain in the Sol System after Torres received her new orders, being a doting dad.

Torres - Settled on Earth with her family, took up a role teaching Engineering at the Academy under Professor Chapman, as well as consulting on the refit/repair of Voyager. Once the starship was released from dry-dock she was assigned once again as her Chief Engineer.

Kim - Finally got a promotion and took an assignment onboard a deep space vessel.

EMH - After considerable diagnostics at Jupiter Station was assigned to Starfleet Medical.

Seven - Was the object of much scrutiny and study, provided Starfleet Tactical with considerable insight into the Borg. Was assigned to Janeway's unit before taking up a special consultant post with the S.C.E. Her relationship with Chakotay ended very soon after returning to the AQ.

Neelix - The Talaxian colony was assimilated by the Borg two months after Voyager returned home.

Kes - After her older self was prevented from seeking revenge on Voyager she returned home, where she used all that she was to send the Ocampa across the galaxy to the AQ where they were recovered by Starfleet and resettled, with many now worshipping Kes--who gave her life to ensure they survived.

U.S.S. Voyager - Extensively refitted and repaired after seven years in the DQ, which took eighteen months to complete. Once the work was finished a new, though highly-controversial, CO was given command; Erika Benteen. She selected a new crew, including a few old crewmembers, to go on a deep space exploratory mission into the Gamma Quadrant, the first of its kind since the end of the Dominion War.

Hmmmmmmm..............

Quite depressing, I must say. :weep:

I prefer my own suggestions which would bring back our favorites to their former glory!

ALL of the character are in those books.

Depressing but more realistic (though, the assimilation of Neelix & his new family was al ittle too cruel! :sigh:) than non canon books, which were published about the post-Voyager's journey in DQ. Wel done, Bry_Sinclair! :techman:

Her dad reached out to her. She had planned to talk to her cousin when she received the letter from her father asking for the video chat. Initiallly she was going to ignore it but Tom had suggested she hear what he had to say

Tom to the rescue again, :). This is what I meant by him helping her accept herself, :).

Thanks. I was debating what to do with Neelix so thought I'd show that things were still bad in the DQ after Voyager got home. Maybe I could give him a better ending, say that his time with the Federation crew made him more hopeful for the future and he set out to bring about a new age of peace in the DQ so started to build an alliance of planets.

Kim and the EMH are two characters I never cared for, hence the lack of details. Whilst with Kes I thought she was ruined in "Fury" so wanted to give her a far more poignant ending, by saving all that was left of her people and giving them a better future with the same people who had helped her to become far more than she ever dreamed.

I loved Tuvok and Torres so had to have them back on Voyager, with an interesting character from DS9 who seemed an interesting fir for a ship that did a lot to redeem the members of the Maquis onboard. I also envisioned Ayala at the conn, Wildman as science officer, Golwat as the new security chief.

Ok, I just rewatched cold fire and before and after (which was a bit of an odd ep), and I've come up with my own theory.

The creature in fury was Kes (yes I know, go with me here for a moment). We know that strong telepathic powers overwhelm and over power the mind. Case en point, gene from xman, she become Phoenix , killed Scott, and gene didn't remember anything Phoenix had done. Kes could have been in the same situation, her power became sentent, and went to kill voyager.

An interesting theory ;) i personally completely think that it was Kes, there's no reason to think it wasn't. Her powers took over her, combined with the memory deterioration that comes with their old age are what lead to her being angry.

My theory is that it was Kes but a Kes whose powers had contaminated her, rotting away the once innocent and kind-hearted young woman, allowing her more negative emotions to become more dominant--which is why she'd aged so much from "The Gift", her incredible powers were essentially corrupting her.

That makes sense

Well, first, I love Tuvok too so, you won't see me object to see him again in post-Voyager adventures BUT, I rather see him staying physically close of Janeway on Earth, like her consultant in Security at Starfleet HQ. If the Section 31 had to intervene again, Tuvok would be the man of the situation to investigate about the new plans and actions of the secret organization and act in consequence on behalf of Adm. Janeway.
For Torres, as I already said, as a former member of the Maquis, I don't think that Starfleet would accept her in their ranks, in psite of the support of 2 admirals (Owen Paris & Kathryn Janeway) but the military organisation could hire her as a civilian expert in engineering. And her husband, Tom Paris, could be a Starfleet or a civilian instructor in charge to teach to future pilots.

Ayala at the com, why not. At least, we would have heard the sound of his voice! ;-) Can we imagine that in 7 years, he hasn't said a word! :-O And about Samantha Wildman, who already was a science officer iaboard Voyager, I never understood why she hadn't been more in contact with the Doctor, with why not, an office in the sickbay ...

Fun fact that I noticed, people like Lanna and Cakoty, have a different mental on their uniform then Tom and janeway

That makes a lot of sense also

What happened after Voyager returned home?

The screen went black and the credits rolled.

Ex-Maquis were given provisional Starfleet ranks, indicated by a silver strip. Everyone else got proper ranks indicated by the bronze pips.

(Also, Nats, you might find it prudent to check the date on posts before you reply to them. The time gap between your first post in this thread and the one immediately above it is almost as great as that between Caretaker and Endgame. This time no harm was done but on other occasions the moderators might be out to get you.)
