Oh @Owain Taggart I freaking loved playing The Invincible that was such a great game full of atmosphere and it was enjoyable. I ended up getting the book its based on. Well worth a read.

That's great to hear. Yeah, it did have great atmosphere didn't it? I find it very similar to Firewatch in how the story is delivered. Also felt very Treklike at times, and made me wonder what a retro TOS-era Trek game like this would be like. Thanks for the reminder about the book as that is one I will want to read as well.

This also served as a reminder that the Unreal 4 Engine can look just as good as Unreal 5 at times.

Well Unreal games can look really good it's not the engine but the work that goes into the visuals and presentation. Having a good engine helps though. I love how the novel written in the 60s had the idea of nanotech with regards to the swarms but without using the word and way before it was fashionable.

And I'm playing Roots of Pacha. Both run well. Did a bit of adjustments graphically via Ark, but other than that, it's good. Having fun playing both.

I had reservations about a Switch port of that but it's not too bad. It's just like the PC version only smaller screen and performance is good. Did have one small stutter with lots of things on screen like enemies in a crowded area but for the most part it runs pretty well.

I finally have gotten around to really play Clair Obscur 33 after i bought it a couple of weeks ago.

Man does this look and sound gorgeous, the end of the Prologue had me choking up hard and that's rare with me when it comes to gaming.

The combat system and gameplay is quite confusing in the beginning and the game does only a basic explanation of all the mechanics, i had to look up some guides online and am still figuring it out but i think i'll get there. Dodging and Parrying is a key mechanic and i'm improving so there's that.

It's not a AAA title, i.e. it shows in character animations ( they feel a bit jerky and unnatural, especially when you're running) as opposed to top of the line titles like God of War that have the ressources to polish everything to the last detail but it's ok and doesn't detract too much.

Storywise i am super intrigued and am still in Act 1, so there's lots to do but even at this early stage i can wholeheartedly recommend it, especially because it's not as expensive as many other games out there.

Yasuke feels like an afterthought, barely any good gear for him...

Yasuke is so overpowered you don't need much for him but really, I've never found gear to matter enough in AC to pay attention to it.

For me, I'd put Origins in first place, Valhalla second, Odyssey 3rd. I liked Odyssey, but I felt like it tried to do too much and lost its focus as a result. It was also much harder than either Origins and Valhalla, IMHO, and everything felt much more aggressive. There's also something about Valhalla which feels much more culturally grounded than Odyssey. I always had a feeling of disconnect in Odyssey with everything I did that I'm not getting with Valhalla, for instance.

You will absolutely not regret this.

The creature designs have a sort of crazy Elden Ring vibe but without the "evilness", the player characters are so cool and well written and wait until you get to the "Minion" village ( it's another name in the game but i don't want to spoil it) - i am laughing my ass off in what is at times a pretty serious and dark game ( and i'm only in the 1st act of 3).

I was frustrated a bit in the beginning because i couldn't wrap my head around the game mechanics, mainly because they use special terms and it was confusing me but at some point i understood it and from now on i can use it and know what i'm looking for.

Enjoy, the game is amazing.

I just finished Origins again, and retrying Odyssey now. Last time I had the feeling, like you, Odyssey had too much going on. I can't fault them for filling the map with things but its more open world even than Origins where you ran out of options eventually and had to get on with the main missions.

Not that Origins is unflawed: they didn't let you develop Aya, even though they could have, and the ocean sections feel tacked on. They could have been better. it's still my favorite Assassin's creed, with 3, and then the Ezio trilogy following. Origins also just gets ridiculously easy as you upgrade and level up.

Mario Kart World - It's great, totally addicted to it right now. Knockout Tour is a fantastic addition. I did go through a period of getting a bit annoyed playing online, thinking it was solely down to luck and it didn't matter how well I played. And yeah, luck will always be a factor (that's Mario Kart, baby!) and it can still be super annoying when you get hit by a blue shell at the last moment. But I am getting better the more I play and can pretty reliably finish in the top 4 on every Knockout Tour online race now, so skill is definitley important and you do pick up tricks and tactics the more you play. I'm still hopeless at wall-riding.

Free Roam at first I was disappointed there was no story mode or boss battles or anything. They could definitely add more to it. But it is a lot of fun! Some of the P-Switch missions are very difficult and rewarding and just driving around the inter-connected world is a good time in itself.

Well I played through the first couple hours of Clair Obscur and it's not for me. The JRPG style just didn't thrill me. Very colourful game and great artwork but yeah.

I finished my NG+ of Spider Man remastered on PC and that was actually tons of fun, probably my 2nd favourite game next to the Horizon games. Web swinging around New York is so much fun. The random events like crimes and stuff are a lot of fun. I finally got to finish that stupid chase with Screwball which was absolutely the worst side activity ever but you can't have everything I guess


Funny moment: I haven't finished my NG+ run of Forbidden West, I'm doing Burning Shores again and I found a toilet. in one of the ruins you explore

I'm trying to finish The Lego Movie game and only because apart from the Star Wars game of the original trilogy I have never finished a Lego game because usually I get so far then just get bored with the formula.
