30 hours deep into Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's been my (unexpected until end of day yesterday) day off, I wanted to be productive but no. I had to collect bugs and speak to cats.
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider...... I haven't played this in a long time and it is fun
an hour and half ago I was playing some more of Resident Evil 0 for my Gamecube. had to shut my Gamecube off since the old AV red/yellow/white cords had some wires exposing poking through. didn't want to start an electrical fire or whatever. gonna have to get a new replacement cords sometime next month
I recently found a few fan-made modifications of the 2D Mortal Kombat games, for the customizable MUGEN program. The first is titled Mortal Kombat II Remix, and the artistic design is absolutely insane. There's multiple palette swaps for each character, the backgrounds have been either enhanced or completely redrawn, some new Fatalities have been introduced, and sound effects have been added from later games to either fill in dialogue gaps, or produce new music for added stage designs. Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot have all been made playable, along with the rumored addition Hornbuckle. Here's some gameplay from it.
The second that I'm playing is a huge combo package, collectively named Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition Plus. If the Remix version of MK2 was akin to the arcade game on steroids, this collection is like a massive nuclear bomb. As far as I can tell, it was mostly programmed by two men named Fabian Arispe and Billie Rodriguez - they re-engineered every installment from the first game, all the way to a 2D version of MK4. The initial entry alone allows you to play as all seven original characters, plus Reptile, Goro, Shang Tsung, and Ermac; similar additions were made for the other games as well. They also included the multi-hit combos which first appeared in MK3, and just like the Remix game there's some new Fatalities. I haven't unlocked any of them myself, but the AI in the original game pulled two on me - Goro uppercuts you into the air, and then shoots a diagonal fireball which causes you to explode. The other I saw was a "Hara Kiri" by Liu Kang, who literally immolated himself after I beat him in a match. Here's some preview footage.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey for the very first time as a serious game.
The last time I played this i just goofed around and lost interest. This time I'm taking an interest in the story and it's fun

Oh ok. Just wondered if it might have been something like replacing the power supply or other components
Kcd2 though I took a small break to play Bloom and Rage which leads me to the question…. Why the hell am I so bad at choice based story games? Seriously, most of the kids in The Quarry came to a less than ideal end with me choosing their fate. I did do ok with Life is Strange but not the spin-offs and there’s been others…
Then comes Bloom and Rage which I should be the ideal player for since I was literally a girl in HS and into alternative when the game takes place and am the age of the adult characters. And yet when I get to the end of part one and they summarize your choices (many are just questions you asked other characters) I find out that I’m barely friends with any of them.
It’s weird because it’s not like this in choice based RPGs where I almost always get the ending my character wants/deserves. But apparently I’m terrible at narrative games.
Btw this isn’t to knock the game. Bloom and Rage is good and free on ps plus. I just don’t understand how I can conquer Elden Ring, clear multiple vet raids/trials and yet kinda suck at literally being me. lol.

My brand-new computer had to be shipped back to the manufacturer for defective parts, so I'm getting my Stardew Valley fix via my PS4.
Well, my computer is over ten years old, and it still plays those Mortal Kombat MUGEN games just fine. I doubt it could handle PC versions of the recent 3D entries, though.

Very very good, maybe not quite great, but extremely polished. Now I'm starting Starfox Adventures, a game I heard plenty about back in the day.
Maybe I went from the worst possible direct comparison game possible but ... ooof. Still undecided if it's clunky with it's constant need to backtrack, and it's seemingly broken combat (only 1 enemy at a time will ever fight you and you never need to press block?) because Rare were done with Nintendo and it was a contractual obligation or if perhaps Rare's best days were just behind them and they struggled with the increased requirements and expectations of the (then) next generation of consoles. They're still doing their own voiceovers and it's godawful, 90's Zelda CD-I quality stuff. Pretty sure the rest of the world was paying professionals to voice their games by then.

I'm playing Far Cry 6 for some open world carnage. It's the only far cry game I can stand because the open world carnage is fun..
I really think Ubisoft make the same kind of game every year. They have milked Assassin's creed till the bones are showing.... The only one in that series I liked was Odyssey

Finished Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and am nearing the end of Avowed. KCD2 is great but I think I liked 1 better (it was more personal *but* that’s a game that I played with the DLC and it added a lot to the story if KCD2’s DLC is the same way you should almost wait until it’s released to play the game because it will add so much more depth to the story).
Avowed is great on many levels but I feel a little lost on the backstory bc I haven’t played Pillars of Eternity. But it’s so nice to step into a world where there’s lore fleshed out and present all around you (that aspect reminds me very much of the Elder Scrolls). It’s not nearly as grand as a TES title but the influence is there.
Both KCD2 and Avowed are TESlike while maintaining their own identities but the influence of Morrowind and Oblivion are all over them in different ways. Both come close to that magic but don’t quite reach it (and that’s ok because they are still very good games worth buying and playing). It’s great to see someone making RPGs in that vein. Now if only we could get Bethesda to do it.

If you play any of the Pillars game, I'd go with the second. The second is much more fun and accessable with a more uniqe setting among RPGs, ie Pirates.
Been playing Hades lately. The game is a hoot.
