What games are you playing currently?

I recently downloaded the first three Mortal Kombat games as a $6 pack from the GOG website, and I had some early problems since I knew nothing about keyboard mapping. I have the first game working correctly now for the most part, but can't figure out how to resume gameplay after I've initially paused it. I also don't know if there's a free play option, since it appears to be an arcade port and the CPU gets tough fairly quick.

I finished LEGO Horizon Adventures a few days ago and now I'm back to playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which looks amazing on the PS5 Pro.

I've swung back around to Digital Combat Simulator. Arctic Thunder and Raven One, Dominant Fury campaigns in the F/A-18.

Finished DA The Veilguard and really enjoyed it. One complaint I have though is the quest + central hub system can make things feel really disjointed, like you’re not really exploring an area but going from place to place semi random. Outlaws had the same issue. That aspect feels very overland MMO. It makes getting into things a lot more difficult imo but once you are into them it’s a lot of fun.

Also I don’t like the hub system nearly as much as I did the old campfire system. There’s some balancing issues that again make me think of MMOs because you suddenly scale up in difficulty in a lot of dragon fights (other boss fights not so much).

I was heartbroken that my girl Leliana doesn’t make an appearance. I guess everyone else killed her in prior games?

Now I’m on to Final Fantasy 16.

Either killed or promoted I guess?

I haven't played Veilguard yet (Tech issues more than anything) but want to at some point.

I heard that it was originally going to be a live-service game hence the disjointed feel, but by the time it was decided they weren't going to do that, they'd already done too much work on it start over.

Have to say Lego Horizon Adventures was disappointing. I know it was super dumbed down for kids but didn't offer much to regular Horizon fans

Yeah I have to agree. And while I am a Horizon fan, I actually went into it more as someone who enjoys the occasional LEGO game. And even as a LEGO game, it was quite disappointing. It was short and repetitive, plus there was almost no exploration/discovery involved.

Agree on all those points because it was so short with tiny repetitive levels. It didn't really feel like a Lego game and more like a cash grab

I finished the second Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora DLC yesterday, so I'm done with that game (at least for now).
Then I started playing Life is Strange: Double Exposure earlier today.

That's disappointing to hear. But when it was announced, I came away feeling like it was an odd move. It's sounding like it was mostly done as advertisement to get people playing the series on Playstation consoles. Interestingly, more and more Lego games have had decent open worlds with lots of opportunity for collectibles and side-missions, so it's surprising to hear, and an odd decision at that, to not take advantage of one of the most unique open worlds.

I've been curious about this one, but I've never been able to bite the bullet on it. Would you say it's worth playing? I've never played any of the Far Cry games beyond the first one, and there were many complaints about the Avatar game being too similar to those games.

Same I’ve gotten close when avatar goes on sale but never pulled the trigger. The far cry stuff I heard were positive comparisons but I’ve never been able to get into far cry.

Regarding Avatar... I really like the game (enough that I also got the DLC). The combat is fun, the story is alright and the world itself is absolutely stunning. Seriously, I feel like the game is worth playing just for the visuals. The art direction is spot on and the RT GI does wonders for the graphical presentation.

Cool, then maybe next time it goes on sale, I'll go for it. The reason I asked is because I almost never hear anyone talk about it despite the amount of marketing the game got. It's like people immediately forgot about it right after release.

Well, it had to compete with Baldurs Gate 3, FF7:Ever Crisis, RE4:Remake and a Warhammer game...
